I recognize that Obliterators are probaly goo on the tabletop, and as such want to use them. My problem is that bthey are moronically ugly. Are there any minis that would be good as replacements?

I mean just look at the recent bumbling acts of marketing childishness we've seen in just the past year! Iron Man 2. All the trailers, previews, interviews, Comi-Con panels, tie-ins with burger joints and whatnot. None of that should have happened. The real way to market a movie like Iron Man 2 is to not tell anyone you're making it until a week before its release and then BAM, you hit 'em with the movie. You get everyone to sign NDA's that are punishable by forfeiture of all the person's assets and/or the death penalty, you hire hitmen to kill journalists that sneak in to take photos, you threaten local towns with forced sterilisation should they blab that something's filming in their town, and then then you say nothing about the movie at all and, in fact, even go so far as to deny you're making it.
Avatar. Another great example. All that hype about it being the most expensive movie ever made, the genius of the special effects, and so on. James Cameron should have denied he ever intended to make a movie after Titanic and then zzzzzzzzaaaaaaappp, Avatar - Realease Date - 1 week from now!
That's the real way to market. None of this preview/trailer/hype bull gak. You say nothing, you deny everything, and you leave everyone guessing as to what the hell you're doing until you physically are no longer able to.
Think of just how much money Avatar and Iron Man 2 could have made if we'd never known they existed until they were already in theatres? Hundreds more. Possibly even hundreds of billions more. Why is GW the only one who gets this?

Well, I've converted mine to look somewhat better imho, but as far as alternate models:

Scratchbuilt from GS, Plasticard, and Termi bodies.
'Counts As' Chaos heavy weapons teams (seen this once).

...I also had the idea of modeling a CSM sitting on a huge pile of gunz with some sort of humorous pose.

I've seen people convert Chaos Terminators with some decent results.

You have quite a few options:
weapons servitors (converted from ogres)
big bulky daemons (of tzeentch, could get away with flamers maybe)
Terminators (armed to the teeth/greenstuffed)

My oblits are based off AoBR termies
The SB's are cut off and plastic straws are put in place
GS over them to make them look semi-organic
Each one also has uniqueness to them in the GS (one has flesh extending all the way over the back to the other arm, one has tentacles going into the helmet, etc.)
If you're interested i will post pics

I just bought 6 of the old school oblits. Really like them over the new ones.

For a Tzeentch themed army I was going to use the Withershadow Combine from the Cryx line of Warmachine minis. The different weapon profiles could be their different spells.

But if you were looking at using GW minis, I'd say convert Chaos Terminators.

This is my friend's Oblits. They are from Ultraforge minis. They are a bit bigger than normal oblits but do convey a sense of power on the tabletop. He GS the weapon bits on from a normal oblit kit.

Here is what I did for my Oblits -

I converted them up out of some Warhammer Fantasy Ogre Miniatures, a toy truck for the bucket arm, and some spare weapons I had laying around. You can read about it more over at my gaming groups blog - http://www.thehogsofwar.com/2009/08/conversion-chaos-obliterators.html

While I was out of town a couple of months ago, I visited a hobby shop near Denver, and a guy had some beautiful conversions done up using Chaos Spawn. They were built up pretty standardly, but with a little greenstuff had the weapons coming out of the arms and stomach. I thought it was an excellent conversion, wish I had some pictures

For a Nurgle themed army, these work well:

Warmachine Cryx Boar Thrall:

Also this Incursion Grunt APE might work:

Or this Incursion mini:

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

I've thought this guy would make a decent Obliterator:

http://shop.ramshacklegames.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=221&zenid=cf78539380cf6b97889663751918d2b5

There's some other minis on that site that would work with some modification.
