So I'm looking through the BRB, and I find something that confuses me.

In the Shooting Phase pages, the short explenation thingy says that 'Atleast one model in the unit must be in range to fire', which makes it sound as if one model being in range lets all with that weapon fire. But on a picture a few pages forth, it shows that an Ork in this case, is out of range of anything within LoS, making that he can't shoot.

I just want to check to be sure, all models that wishes to fire must be in range, and not just one model who happens to be in front of the others, right?

Correct. Only models in range may fire.

I think only the one in range can fire and you measure from each guy to see who can shoot within range.

Only models in range fire and roll to hit (unless they have Gets Hot Weapons, then they have to roll to hit anyway but automatically miss as well).

Good, because that's how I've always played, and the other option doesn't make sense.. or sence.. whichever of those two it is. >.<

Edit: Just saw Gwar's response. (Do you ever sleep? =o )

So if a Plasma Gun is out of range it still has to fire, giving it a chance to burn, without having a chance to hit?

You are correct all models must be in range to fire. There are a few exceptions to this like Multi-Barrage weapons.

Yes, but only because the Gets Hot! rule specifically says so. Ordinarily you wouldn't bother rolling to hit for weapons that are out of range.

Ah, found the rule in the BRB... And something I didn't know earlier, I thought Blast weapons used to roll to hit, which I always found strange.. Now I found the correct rules for that too. =P Cheers Insaniak!

Up until the current edition, they did.

Ah, I was pretty confused about it.

I got the old BRB so long ago, when my english was really poor. (The most worn pages are the ones with the pictures of the armies, the fluff and the rules are kinda untouched xD )

Besides I'm so used with my old one that I always look into that when I'm looking for some rules. (Which leads to confusion and chaos!)

I try not to, in order that Dakka might be a better place!

When I went to daycare there was a kid in class whom we used to say swallowed a calculator since he could solve just about all mathematical questions we could come up with within seconds.

I guess you've swallowed the BRB? xD

Well, you can choose to fire the plasma gun or not, but you have to make that choice before you measure any ranges. If for whatever reason you know the plasma dude will be 13" out, just declare that he won't shoot.
