Now I know that the majority of people think that the nids are a weak codex, with that put aside, does anyone know if the nids in the codex are going to go up for sale on GW website, or if most new models are just conversions from the old ones? That I would find very annoying, and probably wouldn't play nids for that fact alone.

Ummm...somewhere...

The majority of the nids int he codex are up for sale. There are just a few (I.E most special characters, swarm lord, tervigon and the tyrgon prime) are pretty much meant to be conversions, which opens up for lots of hobby opportunities

It takes time for them to release all the models for a certain codex- they dont let them out all at once, rather they release them in 'waves'. This is why so many people are converting thier own tervigons and tyrannofexs.

But this is why Im making my own spore pods. People seem to underestimate the tyranid codex in general and Ive always been drawn to underdog armies ^_^

Yeah, that's what i was thinking. The worst part of it though, in the new codex, there isn't any pictures of the models to base your judgment off of. I dunnno, that seems to be the worst part imo.

Hopefully GW will release a few of the many nid creatures that do not have models (tervigon, T-fex, parasite, Doom, etc) and provide wings and boneswords for warriors, tyrant (wings), although Chapterhouse has made boneswords for warriors I think.

Yeah, I agree. If they do, I will gladly pump out some cash for nids.

GW never releases all the new models in a codex. Nearly every codex has at least one unreleased model.

Yeah, I know it takes a while for them to start selling them. I was just wondering if they were going to release them.

There's absolutely no rumors pointing towards new Tyranid releases right now.

As long as they release them, I'll be happy. My marine army is almost completly purchased. I'm not ready to start trying to buy another one, when my marines arn't even close to painted yet

Trygon Primes do have a model. It tells you how to make it in the instructions of the Trygon/Mawloc box. Just wanted to clarify.

2,500pts Hive Fleet Goliath - Tyranids --- W-10 . . D-4 . . L-5
2,000pts Empire of Quatar - Tomb Kings W-3 . . D-1 . . L-6
1,000pts Angry Marines - Blood Angels --- W-1 . . D-0 . . L-0
They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give of themselves to me. Like clay I shall mould them, and in the furnace of war forge them. They will be of iron will and steely muscle. In great armour shall I clad them and with the mightiest guns will they be armed. They will be untouched by plague or disease, no sickness will blight them. They will have tactics, strategies and machines so that no foe can best them in battle. They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines and they shall know no fear.

Most non-released models have obvious conversions in mind. A second wave of Tyranids will certainly follow some day in the future, as GW plans to release models for every unit in the game. Until then enjoy all the non-GW alternatives for these units that are in the works or already released. BTW, I like the fact that there are so many ideas in the new Codex that there is room for more releases within the next several years, which is a departure from the "one release per gamer generation" policy GW had before.

What would you prefer:

All the units to have models *at launch* but some units would therefore be excluded. Oh, and nothing new for that army for 5years+

OR

Some cool additional units are in the book, with fairly obvious guidelines for conversion, which can then be released "formally" at a later date, say after a couple years?

I prefer the second, and so does GW - it maintains interest in the army, long after the initial codex release, for early adopters.

Overall conversions add a taste to your army only you can bring. As well as the nids being an always evolving swarm of death, it really doesn't matter what the conversions look like you can always justify what you've created.

Heh, don't think I could justify taking a ripper and making 4 bonesaber arms on him and call him a Swarmlord

...although it'd be pretty hilarious

Really though as funny as it would look, would it be beyond what the Nids could produce.

Well, I think there was a short wave where players posted Nids army lists according to the new codex.
At the end of this wave, players got doubts that Nids are strong enough to be on par with other strong armies.
