Just wondering how other IG players handle drop pod marines. I am still realatively new; and so far I have played 2 games where people have used drop pods, and lost by turn 3 with each one. One was dreadnought spam with five dreads all in drop pods, two of then venerable, useing the special rule of some character. The other he had two squads advancing down the board and one squad come in a drop pod, they destroyed a Demolisher almost immediately, and I was not able to effectivly attack both I want to know if there are realy any effective ways for IG to counter drop pods.

Well, an allied inuisitor with two mystics is the most poppular form of defence. Of course, you may be losing them this year but hey, you can still use them at the moment.

I would say vendetta's. They will put a dent in any dreadnoughts popping out apearing due to their fast speed, high anti-tank power and the fact nothing can assult out of a normal drop pod (lucius patten drop pods are the ones which allow assult)

i don't see Many Drop Pods in my area, but denying them a place to land is an oldie but a goody. make them land where you can focus fire or get mutliple fire lanes.

The best defence against drop pods is to castle up and bubble wrap your tanks with infantry

You can always reserve key units....with an astropath on the board in turn 1 there is a good chance you can get them in by turn 2 and 3, and thus pick off the deep striking units..

For the moment, allied inq + mystics is the best way. With them you can castle up, and by making sure the mystic unit is within 12" of your units which really hurt the enemy dreads/units in pods (for example, 2 hydras, or a demolisher, or medusas, etc..) then you can pick them off as they get off the pods...
