Hi guys,

Still assembling my 40K army, and having just unearthed a Cataphract-Class Imperial Robot, I'm taken by him a little, and I would need some background and profile information to work out if this guy will fit, or not.

I'm going SM, but IG are still mixing it up and stating a strong claim for their right to play - as I continue to find more, very old, minatures.

If anyone can point out the right direction to look to find out this information, it would be most helpful.

Many thanks,
Daniel M.

I've got no real information on him, but having just looked at him--he'd be kind of a neat way to represent a Thunderfire Cannon for your Space Marines.

Thanks Kanluwen,

A valid and good suggestion. I will look into that more closely, remembering that as you are suggesting, he can always be an approriate representation of something other, for my SM army.

My apologies for not attaching a photo.

Cheers,
Daniel M.

Heck, no problem. I have Stuff of Legends bookmarked for a reason

It looks like a fantastic Thunderfire Cannon stand-in though.

Thanks to Dakka Dakka member Mannahnin early on in my brief membership, I'm aware of "Stuff of Legends" and am not surprised you have it "bookmarked" for speedier reference. I too have found it a fun and helpful site for research purposes - finding names to the minatures I've come across from my rediscovered box of GW games.

However, their only fault is that they don't provide the background information which is essential in instances such as this one. Perhaps that can be their next project? It would be most helpful to many of us rediscovering GW games - and others - if such a feature was included.

The only thing I see as a complication with your suggestion at this stage, is that the Thunderfire Cannon comes with a Techmarine, and I already have a specific Techmarine SM.

Not sure whether you see this as a potential problem?

Cool avatar, by the way.

Thanks again,
Daniel M.

Sure you can have a Techmarine.

But rather than it being a cannon that's bolted to the ground--have it be the robot, maybe assembling it so that it looks like the legs are in a "braced" firing position?

Have the Robot be the cannon itself, not the Techmarine or the Servitors.

As for Stuff of Legend...
They probably don't have background to avoid issues with copyright/IP. A lot of stuff from that era was done under license to Games Workshop(or as it was known then: Citadel)--and GW does everything they can to make themselves less vulnerable to suits from the owners of properties that were once licensed out to them.

@Daniel:
I dug out my redbook (RT) 40k compendium which has the rules and background for the imperial robots.

What particular info are you after?

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Hi chromedog,

I wouldn't want to put you in breach of any copyright laws with respect to sharing what you have with me - as I'm pretty much after everything; the rules, specific profile, and background information.

If you were to set-up a Paypal account for yourself I would be more than happy to send some Aussie coin you think suitable for such information, your way.

I mean, RT is no longer available, is it? Certainly the described minature is very old.

Thanks for your reply, and willingness to assist.

Best Wishes,
Daniel Moszkowicz.
