I'm really eager to use some Pariahs, for the simple reason I love their fluff and look. If my primary competition is SM of all kinds and Tyranids, is a Fearbomb squad of Pariahs + Lord w/ Nightmare Shroud worth fielding? I know of the Nids' Synapse range Fearless and SM's get Fearless only against Sweeping Advance, right? Is this worth the compromise of fielding other Necrons to avoid Phase Out? This would be for 1000-1500 pt games so Necron #'s would be in the 20s-30s

Thanks!

I like paraihs background and looks to but sadly they are not worth taking until a very high point mark (2000+) to be effective, just wait till the next codex comes out and hope they become terminaters .

No, not really. With the high cost of the pariahs, and the fact that they are stuck footslogging across the board, they just don't cut it. If the phalanx ever makes a return as a viable tactic (which probably isn't going to happen anytime soon) then there is a possible role for them, but otherwise it's far more efficient to put your points in more mobile forces.

I'm actually hoping they remove them as a seperate unit all together and allow them as an upgrade character in warrior and maybe immortal squads.

That would be a great idea finaly necrons get team leaders, that make the whole squad fearless ( yay ).

That or giving them a 2+ save and I of at least 4 and an invul save of 5 or better I'm not bothering with them.

Too slow. Against many armies it will take you several turns to get in range. Vs. assault it is possible to get assaulted without ever getting a Shroud shot off as they rush right through the 18" threat range. Or just ride through it in transports.

Plus getting shot to death.

If you find yourself fighting lots to TH/SS termies then they might be worthwhile, but honestly, they just pretty much suck.

With Crons you have to power game the list to have any chance of winning against a good opponent or list.

If you want to make stuff run away, use the Deceiver. He works on even fearless units and he is far more useful in far more situations.

Does the Deciever, Fearbombs, leadership modifiers, etc, work in vehicles/mechanized squads?

Didn't think so.

Unfortunately, not only are Pariah’s NOT Necrons – which means they don’t count toward your phase out at all, but they’re horrifically over costed. Additionally, I believe the Nightmare Shroud only works with Necron units which excludes the poor Pariah from jumping with the Lord.

Unfortunately, the name “Pariah” is far more suited to the unit than GW ever intended.

well, i'd love to field them against my Nid friend and if his warriors are ever out of synapse range and about to molest me, I can just fear bomb them. however, I realize that's a very specific scenario to base 1/5 or 1/8 of my army around considering Phase Out.

I believe you're mistaking Nightmare Shroud for Veil of Darkness
