Perhaps someone already has posted this, but has anyone tried to convert or make a Space Marine version of the Doomsday Device?

We played an apocalypse game last night, 5000 + space marines vs. 5000 + Tyranids. The space marines brought a Chaos Doomsday Device, but changed it's name and considered it an Exterminatus Device. We basically said it was placed by the inquisition to wipe out the infestation, but the marines were attempting to save as much of the planets population before it went nuclear.

Anyhow what do you guys think?

Noooo don't use it! Nids become immune to that strand of virus after quick exposure to it! Melta torpedoes and lots of them!!! Should instead have a melta barrage launch control system you have to get to and whoever controls it can fire off random str D large blasts that scatter 3d6. Imperium controlled, you pick remotely where it lands. Nids controlled, the fleet above is unsure of orders and the ship captain gets trigger happy and lands wherever on the board by way of rolling table quarters using a d6, 5 is tyranid player choice, 6 is imperium choice.

That is a cool idea, but would it cost the same as a Doomsday device? It sounds a little different.

You would have to pay for it? Hell I'd just throw it in for the fact everything would be blowing up for gaks and giggles.

It's apoc. Make it a narrative event and play from there.

Personally as an chaos player (the tilte got my attension) it would be unfair to chaos player since imperium has all those fancy (example Baneblade Shadowsword etc.) . And! Dooms Day Device (shortly DDD) is only easy conversion to chaos that i know. (Still IMO)

He never said it was a virus bomb. It could be a melta-device like you said, or a sort of land-based cyclonic torpedo (cyclone bomb?)

Although I see the validity of Virus bomb>Tyranids quickly turning into Tyranids>everything (which raises the question of why doesn't everything evolve to be bolter/lasgun/flamer proof?)
