Subject: Are Synapse creatures fearless?

Just played an odd tyranid vs tyranid game, and my opponent insisted that all Tyranids within synapse range are fearless. My reading is that only creatures with Instinctive Behavior gain fearless when in synapse range.
Discuss?

"If you really want to know what it was like, to fight in the air in the great War, then go up to someone you have never met and who has never done you the slightest harm and pour a two-gallon tin of petrol over them. Then apply a match, and when they are nicely ablaze, push them from a fifteenth-floor window after first perhaps shooting them a few times in the back with a revolver. And be aware as you are doing these things that ten seconds later someone else will quite probably do them to you. This will exactly reproduce... the substance of First World War aerial combat and will cost your country nothing. It will also avoid the necessity of ten million other people to die in order for you to enjoy it."

Unless they have Fearless in their entry, Synapse creatures are not Fearless. Synapse simply means that creatures pass Instincitive Tests, not Leadership Tests.

"...they also again the Fearless rule as detailed in the Warhammer 40000 rulebook." So yes, synapse creatures are fearless. Edit: To expand on the OP's question: If they are within range they are not subject to instincive behaviour (which is fine since they dont have the rule anyway) and become fearless. They rule doesnt suggest that only creatures with instinctive behaviour become fearless (like most of the chapter traits in C: SM only apply to models with combat tactics) so everyone within range does.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live? |

"Synapse Creatures and Tyranid units that are within 12" of a Synapse Creature are said to be within synapse range."
Units in synapse range are not subject to instinctive behavior and gain fearless. The units in synapse range are:
- Synapse Creatures
and
- Tyranid units that are within 12" of a Synapse Creature
So yes, Synapse Creatures are fearless as they are said to be within synapse range
