Hey guys. After a lot of research and a lot of thinking about which army I want to start out fantasy with, I've narrowed it down to two armies. Wood Elves or High Elves. I love both army’s models, and fluff about equally. I know that Wood elf armies are centered around shooting, and High Elf armies are more versatile, but still I just can't decide. So I was hoping Dakka would help me out with that.

I'd have to say Welfs.

They're glade guard is just too cool w/ the longbows model wise.

I would take Wood Elves, but High Elves are going to be in the new 8th edition starter box. I would wait until 8th edition (releasing just over a month from now) and then choose.

Oddly enough, I voted Wood Elves - as of right now, they probably have the best sets of plastics of all the GW Elf armies.

I voted Wood Elves, for the pure reason that they are not High Elves.

Alright, I've made my choice.

Despite the popular opinion, I'm going with high elves. I decided I like the models, fluff, and in-game abilities better.

Or because secretly you wish your elves had leaves on them? The best things comes with leaves...

Seriously wait a few weeks because if the current rumors are true Wood Elfs are going to be unplayable outside of some sort of all glade guard shooting list. Their combat units rely on outmaneuvering the enemy then using their high speed to get charges and kill their way out of combat. With no charge ASF bonus they will be destroyed once they go uo against ranked units with equal or higher initiative (other elves, demons, etc). Additionally skirmisher rules look horrible which is a lot of their units. Lastly if true line of sight is correct they can't even hide in woods and will be hit by every war machine that can see them which with expensive, low toughness models will take them out of the game very early.

Of course if these aren't true than the army is cool and I enjoy it. However don't invest in something that in a month will literally be useless.
