I sometimes field kroot mercenaries in my friendly games and I was wondering if they are still legal as an army in their own right or as allies to my radical daemon hunters and other armies.

Opponent Consent IMO, because it's not an army list widely publicated any more...some people don't know they exist and they don't have their own 'proper' codex.

Tourney: you need to ask the TO.

Friendly: I suggest talking with the opponent first.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I can't answer your question, sorry. But I am curious as to where you get the rules for Kroot mercenaries. Where are they?

It's in one of the Chapter Approved books. Try doing an online search for Kroot Mercenary list and you might find something.

DH ally rules are specific.
Check with TO, opponent, etc.

As a note: the Merc list can be very powerful, if used correctly. Best of luck, PM if you want any tips!

Thanks! I think I found it but the rules look pretty dated, they must be difficult to play in 5th.

With combat resolution being what it is, it can go really really well, or really really poorly.

Thanks for the replies. It doesn’t really effect me all the much as a play with a fairly permissive group who are just fine playing against discontinued armies, I was just wondering if they were legal or not - guess the answer isn’t as clear cut as that.

Thanks for the offer Che-Vito, but I only have a single squad of kroot that I sometimes use as allies, I'm not planning on starting a Kroot Merc army.
