In three codices currently (possibly more?) IG, Tyranids, and BA, you have units which grant furious charge to other units within a certain range.
The question at hand is: if your assault move takes you out of range of the "bubble" effect, do you still get the +1 S and +1 I from Furious Charge?

The RaW is unclear. The INAT FAQ says they keep it. I'm not particularly fond of that, but it's better than having to work stuff out mid assault phase and in-between initiatives. For example, 4 BA Assault Marines assault an Eldar Autarch attached to 5 Guardians. After they move, they have 1 model within 6" of the dude, who happens to be the only "Normal" guy left. The Autarch, being a higher Int, goes first and goes all Ninja on the BA, causing a wound, which the BA Player puts on the Normal guy but fails his save. What happens now? Do the BA Suddenly drop to I4 and strike at the same time as the Guardians? Do the BA Strike at I5 anyway? WHAT HAPPEN!!!!! WHO WAS PHONE!

I don't think they keep it. If they're not within 6" they aren't getting Furious Charge, so the +1s would no longer apply. As you move everything first, then resolve combats, it's not too far fetched to check for things like that prior to starting a combat, but after you have moved beyond the 6" range of these abilities...

Except thats no less arbitrary than checking at the start of the phase.

sure it is, since you haven't done anything at the start of the phase which would necessitate having +1 S & I from Furious Charge. All you've done is attackers' moves & defenders' reactions.
Besides, that keeps people more honest with these types of abilities.

Thanks Gwar, I felt that this was one of those "game breaking" situations that comes up due to GW not handling basic game mechanics in the rules. Timing issues are important, but GW doesn't seem to think they exist...
A certain blogger is dead certain that it's one way, and I wanted some feedback to make sure I wasn't on drugs.

I will admit, I don't think it should be that way, but I think it is, after re-reading the text of Furious Charge USR.
It says on a turn in which they assaulted into combat, so that criteria is met at the point they declare their assault move, so at that point maybe they should keep Furious Charge regardless of being w/in 6" of whatever model is giving it to them...
Like I said, I don't agree with it, but it seems to be the way it is...

Checking at the start of the phase is the easiest and most reasonable way to do this. It'd be kind of odd for a unit whipped into a fevor by some a robotic guardsman/golden pimp cup/big pregnant monster but lose it as they furiously charge into combat as they're now 7" away.

But in order to have assaulted into combat, you have to have successfully completed an assault move. It happens fairly frequently to declare an assault but not to actually successfully assault, so it seems to me that having "assaulted into combat" could just as easily mean *after* assault moves have been made.

which I totally agree with.
but I think MasterSlowPoke's resolution seems the easiest to handle, as long as a Priest can't give furious charge to one unit at the start of the phase, then assault in a different direction and give it to another unit that wasn't w/in 6" at the beginning of the assault phase [I don't think that made any sense, but hopefully you get the picture...]

i agree with you gramatically... assaulted is past tense meaning the move has happened..

You might not agree, but I happen to think Blood angel are quite a bargain, for the quality of the miniatures. I've never seen a marine kit better than the sanguinary Guard. Those have to be some of the best models they make.
