Howdy everyone! I tried to do some research on the issue that +1 reserve rolls = Automatic deployment come turn 4 or sooner. However, I cannot seem to get a straight answer. I believe it does considering everyone states that lictor bonus + hive tyrant bonus stacks, but this would make no sense considering that the +1 doesnt work for the lictor till turn three and by that point you are already at a +2. Anyway, my friend and I are at a disagreement and we need some dakka help if possible! Thanks!

Lictor does stack with tyrant but it doesn't at the same time because of how its hilariously written.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
However I don't believe it actually effects the whole *auto* come in by the rules but if the modifier is high enough that even a 1 on the roll lets them in.. except I'm not sure if a 1 auto fails.

There is no rule that says that rolling a 1 for Reserves is an auto fail.

This is another case of transubstantiating a rule; the "1 is an auto fail" is only for extra ordinary cases which are outlined in the rulebook. If you read a section of the rules and it does not state that "a result of 1 is always a fail" then it does not apply to that section; where you read that "1 is always a fail" then it applies to that section and no other.

Yeah if it wasn't like this bonus to reserve rolls rules would need to be worded differently and I'd assume that reserves would not have the come in automatically clause on turn 5 (as, if one did roll, a 1 for this the reserves wouldn't come on.)

Yes, there is.

You have to be using an Eldar Autarch though!

You're about 3 posts too late, Gwar.

But for what it's worth, I was referring to generic rules that would actually apply to the original question, not specific rules for completely unrelated armies.

Reading the Autarch's entry, it looks to me like that was to prevent things like all reserves arriving on turn 4 or 3. It's surprising that they wouldn't do the same for the 'nid books. Are Tyranids just better at meneuvering reserves than Eldar?

I guess it's a matter of Balance.

Eldar kept in reserve are generally inside Fast Skimmer Tank Transports, so not being able to come in until turn 5, while a disadvantage, is not insurmountable.

Nids on the other hand have NO transports and no way for their infantry to move faster than infantry, making it a lot more harmful.

I fixed that for you.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
