Im deciding whether i should continue my tau army or collect more orks. I have some tau that i've collected for 4 years and i recently started to collect some orks. Im thinking of sticking with tau for now but im not sure how competitive they are in 5th ed

Are tau good enough to play in fun games that you won't get annihilated everytime?

Somewhere in south-central England.

They are one of the weaker armies.

That said, the power curve is smoother in 5e than it was in 3e and 4e, so they are not uncompetitive. You just have to work harder for a win than if you play one of the top armies like Orks or IG.

They are certainly good enough for fun games providing you play at the right points level and avoid the extreme power builds that some codexes can do.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

If you're just looking to play in fun games then you'll be fine. Tau struggle to build really powerful armies that can compete in more ruthless environments, but in terms of building balanced, fun lists they're the same everyone else.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.
