Hi Guys,

Before I write this... I've gone home from University for a few days to do some painting (my spraygun and everything can't exactly be used in a dorm room) and I've left my codex, so could people please 1. Tell me the price of a storm bolter (cheeky I know) and tell me how many points their suggested upgrades cost? Thanks

I'm building myself three new Rhinos as I'm sick of using my predator/razorback as stand-ins and my only actual rhino is an old one that's broken to hell... And I'm wondering what to model them with.

Now, the idea in my head is this: A missile launcher is a silly points sink, extra armour doesn't have to be modelled... but should I use storm bolters? How many points are they? My line of thought is that if I get weapon destroyed I can take off the stormbolter... and oh darn, whilst typing this I'm thinking AGAIN, doesn't a Rhino come with a Storm Bolter already mounted? Can I add another one? Perhaps I could stick on the storm bolter turret as the fixed one and use an uncrewed pintle-mounted storm bolter? But the initial thought was that a second SB means that I don't need to risk a second weapon destroyed result immobilising my precious Rhino!

Also, I am playing WYSIWYG and I choose not to utilise my pintle weaponry, will having an uncrewed weapon violate that? Should I just allow the cupola to be detachable?

I guess in short what I am asking is: How do I model the cupola for WYSIWYG, Can a Rhino take an additional Storm Bolter? Is this useful?

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

The only upgrade I've ever seen taken is extra armor. Otherwise, the whole point of rhinos is that they don't absorb points that you desperately need for tac squads.

IMO Extra Armor is just too expensive.
The only thing I'd throw it on is a LR, because you've invested so much anyway...

expensive, sure, but it at least helps with the whole point of a transport: to move things across the field. I've never seen other upgrades (well... by competent marine players), because they're superfluous to the vehicle's actual mission.

If you have three rhinos (minimu) then you don't need it as you will be expecting the following outcomes:
1 Wreck/Explodes.
1 Immobilized/Can't Move/shoot.
1 Weapon Destroyed/Can't Shoot.

Maybe if you had points remaining, sure, but to have the rhino climb back to the pre-5th ed levels is just mind-blowing.

As points scale up and you get a lot of vehicles, the HKM actually can work around the 2000 point-level, taken in large numbers part of an alphastrike. At lower point levels, not so much.

I take my rhinos without any upgrades (they do come with one Storm bolter stock). Guns are for the marines and rhinos are for moving the marines.

That being said, I sometimes put on a hunter-killer missile on them all in larger games or if I really can't put the points elsewhere.

Dozer blades are the only thing I throw on mine. I have rolled too many 1's when trying to move onto objectives.

As have I.... though not because I was trying to move onto vehicles. I was trying to bust through ruins so that I can melta stuff.
are
Though I still don't feel like paying for them on anything less then a predator. Now if a Land Raider could take one....
