Rackham is working on version 2.0 of the AT-43 ruleset...and nothing is being released until the rules are finished. That means no Karman, UNA, or Kryg Army Boxes.

This being the case...I'm not sure how much there is going to be to talk about in regards to AT-43. Even the largest AT-43 fan community I'm aware of is ceasing to be about AT-43 and turning into a Malifaux group because people are sick of the AT-43 rules, apparently.

I'm actually wondering whether AT-43 is going to survive this, which doesn't please me considering I own all the armies and books, now. We're facing the prospect of seven months of no new AT-43 product at a time when AT-43 was already slipping below the radar...gamers being as fickle as they are, and with other products like Malifaux on the rise, will AT-43 be able to stage a comeback when the new rulebook is finished? Who will still be paying attention by then?

In my city, AT-43 had a pretty big following for a while. Not as big as 40k, but it was there. At this point, I think every store cleared them out, and aren't interested in stocking them anymore.

I got into it around that time, picked up four armies, enjoyed the few games I did play but ran into problems directly related to the company. First off, for the most part it's impossible to get a full army. There are huge gaps in armies. For example I put together a UNA army, I really wanted to have a nice balanced light army. But couldn't because Star Troopers (their main troops) were oop. Same for their Fire Toads. These are two of the main units in that army, but you can't buy them.

Second, I think most stores felt kinda burned by the lack of releases, support, and the fantasy flight incident.

I really doubt AT-43 will survive this, and if they do it will be much much smaller. Which is too bad, because they had great hype, good mini's and decent rules.

Warseer is at its most active around rumour time. Also as Rackham is currently writing its rules and like Gw will come to quality sites for information if we explain what sucks and why and offer mongst ourselves solutions we might find the solutions copy pasted. Many fixes in 40K came right here from Dakka. Gwar claims some credit for the FAQ's GW makes, I 'wrote' the rules for Fire Prisms and numerous other fan fixes were adopted to the letter by GW.

Now as you have rightly pointed out the official forums are filled with fanbois posting required changes here might help. I think it is already helping the whole idea of shifting the game size upwards has trickled on and they might be listening on terrain too. Where did they get this from? Likely not from the lickspittles but from the grognards.

I do agree the non GW section has been hamfistedly labelled. You have other SF games here and Mech and Spaceship games elsewhere. Hold on. BFG with Battletech? They dont belong together. I think BFG and Epic should have a section under 40K personally.

In any event I have noticed you are blowing hot and cold regarding AT-43. I hope you arent thinking of ditching your own armies again, it will be expensive to replace third time around and 2.0 has every chance of not sucking. I am also sick of the At-43 rules, but its a smart sick.

I am not sure Malifaux is as big as you say it is. But its not time to abandon AT-43 with the army boxes etc there obviously a lot of heavy backing in the relaunch. Sure Rackham arent exactly competetnt but some of their problems are not their own, they are not a Fench company but a Chinese one, and I dont know if they reaslise that yet.

As you two can't see the Sentinel forums, I can tell you that lately, there has been much less "fanboi" and a bit more "fix this next time, please".

No, I'm holding onto everything, Orlanth. I like the AT-43 stuff as toys, and I still think it's going to make the perfect game to play with my kids if I want to expose them to miniatures wargaming when they're old enough, but I'm really, really disappointed that the Krygs are being held back. I think it's going to turn out to be a mistake, unless the writing's already on the wall per the future of Rackham Entertainment as we just don't know about it yet. Pure speculation on my part, but unless the rules are drastically changing, I don't see why the Krygs can't be released on schedule. New releases keep wargames alive.

Their release schedule has always sucked. I'd be interested in confrontation if it had more armies.

2012- stopped caring
Nova Open 2011- Orks 8th Seed---(I see a trend)
Adepticon 2011- Mike H. Orks 8th Seed (This was the WTF list of the Final 16)

You need MORE than 18 armies plus Mercenaries?

NONE of the armies were removed from the game, they all still have valid rules, they just lack models being sold currently.

Good to see that it is still the same people who are trying to kill the game by posting on forums how bad things are.

At the same time as these people are wasting internet space (is there actually such a place?) there are also people who are willing to look further and who want to enjoy the games Rackham make.

I for one will be playing in a tournament in only two hours time and this is not a one time thing these tournaments are taking place all over the place. Instead of posting doom and gloom have a dig around the web and see if there is a tournament near you where you can play the game you like.

Right now that is the way to keep the game going while we all wait for V2 of the rules.

Just two pictures of the many that I took at the tournament at Games Expo 2010 this Sunday.

I'm going to guess from your user name you are a huge AT-43 fan.

I tried to like it, I really did (I'm hardly one of "the same old people trying to kill the game"). But I don't think anyone at all could deny that rackham really dropped the ball with their release schedule.

Having support in your local area is fine, but in my city every store dropped the game in frustration.

I'd like to see a change in the forum, not in the main title, but in the sub-title. I'd like to see the "28mm" tagline gone.

Alot of folks are getting into 15mm sci-fi, and most of these games are not "epic" in scale. Most seem to play with a similar number of troops as 40k, they just don't cram so much into such a relatively small board. Not being "epic" "Spaceship" "skirmish" "Large Scale" or "28mm" they really don't have a proper forum home.

Perhaps "platoon level" or "Games with 20-100 miniatures per side" would be better descriptor than "28mm."

He is refering to the NEAT-43 Yahoogroup. Which is really whatever Adler Hobbies/Saint Anuman wants to post. It is his group based out of his store. He can do with it what ever he wants with it.

New sci-fi rules from Ambush Alley Games this year...

'Tomorrows War' is scale indifferent allowing its use with any scale miniatures for a gritty, squad based game.

Im involved with the writing and testing and its looking pretty good so far...

I also hate the delineation of the sub forums around here. Why the heck are the Mech and Space games all in one category? Folks often seem to get confused and post in here for some mech stuff (and maybe they should, so it doesn't get buried under a mound of Gothic posts)
