Absolutely. But the whole unit is restricted to moving at the speed of the slowest model.

Yes. What a IC's Unit type is has no bearing on his ability to join units. All that happens is you move at the speed of the slowest model.

This sort of begs the question, what happens when the IC leaves the squad?
That is, does he leave with 6" of movement, or 12"?

You could double-check the rulebook, but to my understanding he uses his own movement mode/rate.

I think there was a bit of debate on that a short while back.
RAW, he doesn't actually leave the unit until he has finished his movement, when you check that he is out of coherency. So as you are moving him, he is still a part of the unit and therefore required to move at the speed of the unit.
Having said that, I suspect that most would actually play that he is free to move off under his own power...

He uses his or her own movement speed. The IC is still his own model with it's own stats in all rights.

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums. |

Hmm, fuzzy rules on this one - "an independant character can leave a unit during the movement phase by moving out of coherency distance with it." Some people interpret this as "the character leaves when his movement is complete" and some as "the character decides to leave and moves away". The rules lean towards the former but the use of "during" leads some people to the second interpretation. Automatically Appended Next Post: Mahtamori wrote:He uses his or her own movement speed. The IC is still his own model with it's own stats in all rights. They have their own stats but whilst a member of another unit they are constrained to move at the speed of the slowest member of the unit. The question is - when do they count as having left? After they've moved away (at the speed of the slowest member of the unit) or as they make a move that will take them out of coherency? Personally, I think they are constrained to move at the speed of the unit during that movement phase. Since there is no option to declare that you are leaving, they are still part of the unit as they make their movement. Only after the move is made are you able to check to see if they have left.
