Hey, I'm looking for some cheap mats for playing wargames on for my school club.
We need them to be pretty cheap and in city scape colors, also we need about 6'x6' of the stuff, anyone know of any product that'd work? Preferably in the UK
Thanks guys,
GUO

Have you tried looking in Model Zone. Sometimes or at least up here they have some terrain mats which work well. Other than that for decent hard wearing mats try Zuzzy mats. www.zuzzy.com

Well, if you're going for the absolute bare minimum, you can get a bedsheet in the color you want. I've used tan ones for desert engagements, green ones for more temperate engagements, and so on.

Oooh, I'll have a look in Model Zone ^^ But I'd quite like some proper ones, not just a bedsheet

This is not exactly what you are looking for, but if you have access to a printer, you might like it: http://www.toposolitario.com/workshop/tableros.html It's originally designed for Infinity, but it's same scale than 40k, so it should work. There are also containers and more stuff in that website. It's all printed scenery but it looks great

That is pretty cool, I might have to see if we could get some of that in the short term but I'm looking for something more robust, like a proper latex or similar gaming mat. ^^

Hit your local haberdasheries and look at felt cloth.

Some tablecloth manufacturers make single colored oilcloths. I only have a GW mat right now, but I'm planning to get some oilcloths. At least one in grey, for urban 40k battles, urban Infinity, Necromunda... Might be a bit boring (a single coloured surface), but I don't think it's expensive and might work.

Take a look at linoleum in your local carpet/diy/kitchen store.
You can quite often get nice stone prints that would be ideal for urban terrain.
It will also take some spraypaints if you fancy dulling down any sheen or adding some additional colour variation.
If you dont mind the mats not matching then you could have luck asking for offcuts/end of rolls.
6x4 is way too small for any kitchen so these scraps should be cheap or even free.
Just get scrounging and you may get lucky.
You may have to fend off a few breakdancers on your way to the car though!
