So, here we go.

I wanted an army that should be fun to play, fun to play against, use some unorthodox units and still have a chance of winning the game on some top tables at a tournament. I really wanted the Ogryns and every single army I try to put them in comes up short on points. (obviously) This army looks like it has a bit of resiliancy, and still has long range firepower AND the ability to project some melta after dumping all thos points on them. The Ogryns are DEFINATLY point defense. Their job is to hang back and protect the Leman Russes and the Deathstrikes from any assault. With the commissar and Regimental Standard, they will be a HUGE speedbump for anyone that finds themselves in my rear lines. I think I've got enough tanks and foot infantry to cover the HSUPP elements from dropping melta. Again, the rest of the army and Ogryns should be able to handle any threats that materialise here as well.

Demo Vets will stay in Chimera for a 2nd turn start. If that happens, the ST's have the option to board the valkrie. On a 1st turn start, the ST's WILL DS and the Melta/Demo Vets can board the Valkrie to take advantage of any Mech that can get clobbered (LR's).

I'm of course chancing a lot on the Deathstrikes, but this list is fun 1st and hardcore 2nd. Two of these puppies going off though could potentially be a game winner....I'm thinking especially against 'Nids, foot ork or any MEQ that is on foot or I can pry out of the cans.

Everything else pretty much speaks for itself. I havent decided yet whether HB's or HF's will be better in this army for the Chimera's, I think I may want to retain the ability to hang back and shoot tons of shots....but a couple may get HF's anyway (Vet Chimera especially).

Thoughts?

As far as a fun list.. it would be fun but you are putting a lot onto those Deathstrikes. Either they go off and they do major damage, or get clobbered (thinking long range Vendetta/Hydra fire). I'd try and put your INF squads in chimeras so provide some more resiliency into the list and some mobility. In obj. games I think your gonna hurt with only 4 scoring units, 2 of which are easy to kill.

Would be a really fun game though if you can get both DS's off.
