Can you use zogwart's curse against a hive tyrant with tyrant guard?

Apparently the tyrant guard rules say you can't single out the tyrant for psychic powers, but zogwart's curse can only be used on independent characters, and it allows you to single them out.

So what happens?

Zogwart needs to find something else to target.

The Hive Tyrant isn't an Independent Character, it's merely being allowed to act like one in a specific manner. This is just like how wings in the CSM codex allow a model to move like jump infantry, unlike jump packs in that same codex which turn models into jump infantry.

the HT is NOT an IC, even when he joins the guard. so its a moot point.

The Hive Tyrant is not an IC, so even without the Guard, you cannot target him.

The only things zogwort can pewpew in the nid codex are Tyranid Primes and the Parasite of Mortrex.

I think Zogwart is a perfect mate for the anti Calgar debate. Thats probably the only time I would field the guy. Id even paint the squig mini to look just like an Ultramarines squig. Just that little extra F U goes a long way

Thanks or the quick answer.

Does it make a difference that it was actually a swarm-lord?

Nope. Swarm Lord is not an Independent Character either.

Yeah look in each codex for the actual term "Independent Character." Those you can target.

What's really funny is that while Mephiston and The Swarmlord are 100.7% protected against the Curse, Absural Vect from Codex: Dark Eldar can be affected by it.

Still trying (and failing) to imagine how a Flying Ravager with AV 14 all round can be turned into one rather pissed off squig myself, but there you go.

Erm... No? Sammael is not a Independent Character, with or without his Land Speeder.

Huh, how ironic, everyone is getting confused with Mephiston and Death Compnay Tycho and kicking up a big fuss but I don't recall ever seeing anything similar with Sammael. Seems like Dark Angels fail even more!
