Death-Dealing Ultramarine Devastator

So, the other day at work I decided to make a model out of bitz we had laying around. When I did, I made a assault marine, with a tau crisis(sp) suit CC weapon. At least I think it was a crisis suit. I haven't played tau in about 4 years so I honestly can't remember. But since special chars have to be accepted by your opponent, I decided what the hell. Now the fluff I thought of as i was modeling him, I had decided that the ultramarines and Tau were in a major engagement and a assault marine veteran had lost his arm. And in order to keep him alive they had to replace it. And the Tau arm was the only one compatible and accessible. Needless to say, now he's had several promotions since then and yadda yadda. That's the short version. Imo, he looks badass, but I need to order a new jumppack for him because he has a BA one right now. Any input?

Show us a pic, much easier to give input when we can actually see what we're commenting on

Also wrong forum, the "Painting and Modelling" forum might be better suited. Unless your after Fluff discussion for the model

Yeah, more after fluff/ideas on that type of model more than modeling.

EDIT: I'll throw a pic up later today. He isn't painted yet, but you'll see the model I'm talking about though

Don't suppose you'd be willing to use MS Paint or whatever to rotate those pictures topside up?

Your right it does fit on there nicely. Fluff wise no SM would save another using xenos scum parts, but who cares its your mini. My only complaint is it looks a little static, I notice hes running, but his arms are both at his side. Maybe a reposition on one of them would be good.

The only issue is, the Tau arm is metal. And it is way too bulky to model any other way then strait down without him falling on his face every time i sit him upright. I might change the other arm though.

Yea if you take the pistol arm, and even just fit it sticking out to the side some, that would help make the mini not look like 2nd edition terminator syndrome

agreed if balance is an issue try glueing a coin to the bottom of the base or using a termie base

There is a nickle on the base. With the CC arm sticking out, its so long and so heavy he still drops on his face. I'll probably fix his other arm and then paint him up.

Hes not gonna be able to do much with the pistol arm, unless he replaces it... its off and older model and would be a pain to model in a better position. Also he has a jump pack, so he could be more so landing or taking off than running.

He looks kind of silly since he's so overladen with stuff. Big helmet, big weapon, big jump pack, big shield, and so on. I would ditch the old 2nd edition bolter he has - it looks really out of place among all those more recent parts.

Possibly drop the shield as well, it seems way out of place.

Thats a nice custom job, my only critique would be that the arm is too static for a running pose, so either try repositioning the arm so that he's holding it up, or change the legs so he is more static in his stance. I like the shield on his arm too, and depending on how it looks if you "do" reposition the arm, maybe rotate it clockwise slightly to be more level.

Some nice work

Since I put these pictures up, I changed a few things. I took the shield off(I haven't decided if I'm putting it back on yet) and I've changed the other arm to a more normal arm that I can pose better. I have my box of models in my car. I'll grab him, and take a few more pictures. In the next few weeks I'm going to decide what I want him to for sure look like in the end, and paint him(I do all of my modeling and painting at work lol).
