what would be a competitive vanilla sm 1k list? I just need some inspiration

I'd recommend a couple of things.

2 10 man tactical squads - meltagun/missile launcher and then combat squad them as the mission allows.

A couple of HF/MM Landspeeders can really put the hurt on someone

Librarian and 5 TH/SS Termi's can make a nice little deathstar especially if you can fit a landraider in there somewhere. Alot of players are not prepared to deal with AV14 at the 1000 pt level
