I picked some simple green up today and I'm trying to strip down some models I got in trades. I was just wondering how long it takes for it to work its magic?

depends on what kind of paint is on them, how many layers, and so on... but for me.. it took weeks to strip my nids.. because the person i bought them from had used a woodstain dip :(

I usually let them soak for 2-3 days then take a brush to them and some need more soaking and some are pretty good after a few days.

Well painted mini's that aren't sealed can only be a few hours.

Poorly painted mini's that are sealed can def take 2-3 once a week scrubs in between soakings.

My friend has had a lot of success with putting some metal models over night in cheep mouthwash, we'll find out tomorrow if it works well with plastic ones.

Thaaattt might very well melt them. If mouthwash is anything like acetone or alcohol, it won't agree with the plastic. I say keep checking on them.

As for simple green, make sure to water it own if it's the concentrated kind. Just sayin'.

Plastic models won't strip quite so easily, especially if the previous owner just globbed crap on there. I have some models that have gone through two separate weekly scrubbings, and still retain a good 50% of their paint. Metals strip like a dream though - paint just loves to slide off them.
