I'm curious, are space wolf scouts aloud to equip shotguns anymore?

In the 3rd edition supplement of the Space Wolf Codex, Space Wolf Scouts can equip a combat shotgun in exchange for their bolt pistol and ccw for free, but In the 5th edition it dost not say that they can't equip shotguns its just not in the equipment list for the Wolf Scouts. Dose this mean that Space Wolf Scouts are no longer able to equip combat shotguns? Yes/No or is this a misprint in the codex?

Current Codex (5th edition) does not list shotguns as an option, so no options for shotguns.

If the equipment option isn't listed for the unit entry, then the equipment option isn't allowed for that unit anymore. Since a FAQ for that codex came out in January and corrected other unit entries, the implication is that the absence of shotguns is intended and not a misprint.

My Chaos Space Marines with plasma cannons and multi-meltas feel your pain, if you have Space Wolf scout models with shotguns.

Ugh, that's a bummer, I just wanted to get a confirmation before I got my scouts from ebay and started assembling them.

but yeah if yall remember the 3rd edition supplement for Space wolves the Image right next to the wolf scout entry was a Wolf Scout with a shotgun and it look so bad ass.

Nope, funnily enough they wear something called 'Scout Armour'.

Because they do not yet have the black carapace, the last of 19 (iirc...) new organs, that allows them to connect to and control their power armour.

Wolf Scouts have all their implants - they are among the most veteran Space Wolves.

So in general Scout == no black carapace

For the special SW Scout == old grizzlies who like to run around in light armour being all sneaky. It's probably the equivalent of SW middleage, they just do this instead of getting a motorbike...

To answer the OP: No, SW Scouts cannot take Shotguns anymore. Don't not buy the models though, buy them and use them as Counts as Boltguns.

Space Wolf Scouts are Space Wolves who do not adapt to the gregarious nature of pack life within the Space Wolves. They are "Loners" for lack of a better word, who all in all are detrimental to the pack rather than beneficial.

Instead of keeping them in their pack and causing fractures, they are inducted into the Wolf Scouts, where their solitary natures can be put to better use.

Yeah I was actually thinking of modding one of the shotguns to look like an M14 of sorts and count it as a bolter, this would be for my scout Sargent of course .
