I only know the basic concept of Necromunda that you use a band of warhammer sized figures maybe in a squad and fight in urban terrain. That's it. Whats the scoop? Is there a great resource for someone that literally knows nothing about this spin off and wants to find out more?

Does someone want to provide a breakdown?

Is this game even still alive? Worth it? Complicated? Fun? Do go on...

Thanks!

Well in my opinion Necromunda is all about atmosphere and developing your own gang. It's a bit similar to Mordhiem, which You might know.
There are literally hundrets of fan-made rules. Don't worry about that. Try to read basics and play a few simple scenarios.
You can download rulebook for free from GW website. Go to specialist games corner.

Ofcourse it's not as "alive" as WH40k but Necromunda imho is totally worth it

Necromunda:

At it's heart, its a gang v gang war skirmish game set within and under the titanic hive cities of the planet of the same name.

Your 'army' is a gang comprised of Juves (new, younger recruits), gangers, heavies and a leader (you have ONE leader per gang). So are the other players' gangs.

Each model is an individual. They can move independent of the rest.

They have little rumbles and the winner gets to collect spoils from the raid to sell and upgrade his gang.

There are experience levels involved as well (so that juves can become gangers, weapons can be upgraded and so on.

Mordheim is a similar concept, only it is a fantasy warband in the fantasy Warhammer world.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
