Im thinking about starting to play necrons.

I thinked my army would propably look like this

1x Necron lord / res.orb, Veil of darkness 200pts
1x Necron lord / destroyer body, warscythe, phase shifter, gaze of flame, chronometron 195pts
4x 10 necron warrior squad 720pts
3x Destroyers 150pts
1x monolith 235pts

Tell me about your toughs about this and how i can make this better.

Good because Necrons are rather hard to win with due to their immobillity. Amoung other things

I know that necrons are little underpowered, but its only army im interested to play and i hope that new codex will make them lot better to play.
So i will start play necrons, but i want comment for my army.

In our games 100% of other players have assault armies so im going to be different

Leave the people that wnna play necrons alone.

Anyway, necrons aint that bad if you use them right you can own all most any army but this takes time and skill which most necron players have.

Necrons are also a fun army to play compared to the others out there so overall I'd say good choice petuzki.

On topic to the list:

Dont give the foot lord veil if you got a monolith and dont have immortals just leave him with orb and nothing else.
Destroyer lord will be shot to death before he sees combat give him some scarabs to go with him for that 2+ save while in cover or tuboing and maybe fit in nightmare shroud, it owns tau like anything .

You wont need 4 squads of warriors at 1500 points go down to 3 or even 2 if you can hide them right, its not that they're bad but normally they will be targeted and if you dont play on a table with lots of cover you will phase out turn 2... that was a bad game for me.

Necrons need 2+ of each squad you run to support we'll be backs so you'll need 6 destroyers at a minimum, sadly thats how necrons are.

Monolith is fine probaly one of the best models in our codex followed by Big D.

Hope this helped and dont let others put you off necrons.

Yea, you definitely want to use scarabs. They might not seem like they're good in the book compared to all the other stuff with the fancy guns and claws, but they're great. You can easily tie up fancy pants troops on the second turn while you take care of something else.

Like what others are saying, scarabs to help screen the lord, less warriors (40 is a lot in a 1500 game), max out the destroyer squad to 5, either drop the VoD or get some immortals to put it to use.

Here is a 1500 point list I used that worked alright for me - (just an FYI, I played against CSM and Nids in a doubles game with this list and I was the main focus of both armies, I only lost 1 immortal and 2 warriors the whole game)

1 Lord - Res Orb, Phase Shifter, Gaze of Flame, Phylactery

10 Immortals

10 x 2 Warriors (they stayed in cover pretty much the entire game maintaining a decent line of fire for those that got close)

2 x Monoliths (expensive, yes, but worth it in every way)

4 x Destroyers (had to drop one so I wasn't too much over)

If your opponent isn't ok with you being 10 points over, just drop the phylactery. It's nice and all, but the least useful out of the rest of the gear I gave him.

Stick the lord with/near the immortals and keep the monoliths in range of being able to teleport any one of your units at any time.

Keep in mind, this setup is best for annihilation games. If you're playing objective games you can always swap out one lith for some other stuff, but I suggest always taking immortals in any game that is 750pts and up.

Don't take more Warriors than you have to for objectives. You aren't marines, warriors aren't good.

Immortals and Destroyers are the working units. Which one depends on your opponents and how you play.

Monoliths are good, and your only template weapon, but make you more vulnerable to phase out.

Scarabs are your best melee unit, and most everything else is trash.

Pick up a pair of the Necron Battleforces, a monolith, a pair of Lords (or convert him out of extra pieces) and you'll have everything you need up to about 1750.

you can either save the extra warriors for when you higher point games or use one of the guides for coverting warriors into immortals.

It's good that you want to play Necrons because you like them, even though they're underpowered. You seem like the kinda guy that plays for fun, not victory at any cost. Good to know some good new people are comng in to the hobby.

As for the list, I'd consider dropping a squad of warriors and adding some immortals. Other than that, looks like a solid army.
