The same army we pick every night pinky, TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD.

failing that, Space Wolves.

THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Hours, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery. Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Sanguinius: *throws self on Horus's power claws* Alas, I am undone! When you play Castlevania, remember me! *enter Emprah* Emprah: Horus! So my favorite son killed my favorite daughter! Horus: What about the Lion? Emprah: Never liked her. Horus: No one does. Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah*Emprah: Au contraire, you dick. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. It's not that bad. Dorn: I guess not. Russ: You all suck. Ima go bring the Emprah back to life.

The 1st time I took home sisters.. (well.. technically they were mailed).

This time i'd pick orks.

I'd pick whichever army I want to play that's normally out of my price range. In this case that would be Imperial Guard. I've always thought a guard army would be cool, but the sheer mass of transports is expensive. Second choice would be Eldar. Third Choice would be Sisters of Battle.

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

For IG they don't give out chimeras and for sisters they pretty much only give you the basic sisters boxes, immolators and seraphim. I also got 0 meltaguns. That means you have to spend about $200 on top of that just to get the army playable.

Of the 3 you'd probably be better off taking eldar.

They didnt give out chimeras last year because the new ones werent out yet.. That could change this year, all depends

However this year Im thinking tyranids due to their cost of start up

Last year I picked 2 daemon armies (40k and fantasy), still have stuff to put together >.<. This year I think either some more orks or marines (both are armies I have but are unfinished). Of course it they come out in time (which they won't) I would say Dark Eldar.

I honestly don't know what I'd pick. It would depend, partially, on whether you have to choose your army immediately or not.

Assuming you couldn't sit on the prize for a couple months and go with DE....the eldar list I was building prices around $1000, so that would probably be my huckleberry.

The problem is that I already own the armies I'm most interested in.

It might take a couple of months for GW to get the info winners need to pick their army...

Is Dark Eldar even in the pipeline?

Do they let you pick the army list or just the army?

I would like to get an air cav guard army if possible.

Failing that, maybe I'd go with demons and hope they throw in a bunch of the new plastics.

I'm not playing 'ard boys, so it's all just hypothetical anyway. Maybe next year I'll bring my new tyranids.

I choose guard since its the most cost effective army. You wont get useless crap as you will with armies that have a lot of metal models

Well I won the army this year and got my email from GW, but can't make up my mind yet. Between some drama in round 3 of the semis, getting sick from the Ebola monkeys at my work the next day, and going on vacation/driving 12 hours for my niece's wedding I've been a bit too busy to figure it out what army I want.

I guess I need to get back to GW soon, so here are my options, non options, pros and cons.

The following armies are non options....

I already have 2 MEQ armies (chaos and BA) so any MEQ army is a non option.

I already have well over 1,000 points of IG infantry (100 + guardsmen, 6 lascannon teams, 6 AC teams, and 20 ratlings), but I don't think I want to play IG. I would be solid and set if I expanded my IG, but I have not enjoyed playing them so far. My army works, and I have won games with them, but I don't enjoy playing an infantry based gunline. I realize I would enjoy playing Mech IG more than blob squads + heavy weapons, but that's another mechanized list that would end up being somewhat similar to my chaos.

Eldar are a non option. There are a lot of good units in the eldar codex that I don't like, and would not like to use. Just my play style, and a new army needs to be one that I would enjoy playing.

Tau and Necrons are also non options. After playing my all infantry IG I don't want to play an infantry based gunline.

That leaves the following armies as options.

Nids: I could make a bug army work, my only concern would be receiving a bunch of Canifaxes & hormaguants.

Dark Eldar: Raider spam, warriors, and wytches would be a lot of fun. I would really enjoy playing DE if those are the units I received, but I'm worried that I would end up getting flooded with grotesques, warp hounds, hellions, and jet bikes.

Sisters of Battle: basic sisters boxes, immolators and seraphim would be fine with me. Metal Melta guns are 5 for $6, and I'm comfortable doing the conversion. This army sounds fun because it's so rarely played, and would be a fun edition to my local gaming store. I just feel uncomfortable grabbing an army when the codex is in pdf limbo, and the elite choices are units I either love or hate.

Deamons and Orks are my top pics right now....

Deamons: I already have 2 deamon princes in my CSM army along with some plague bearers, deamonettes, and a keeper of secrets. Anything they can throw at my I could probably find a use for, so deamons are a top pic for me right now.

Orks: Orks are my current top pick and #1 choice because I could find a use for just about anything in their codex in about any combination. The only units I don't like are the gun platforms for heavy support and flash gits.

Having also placed first my big question is if I say I want a Blood Angels equiv army, but troop based, will they accept some reasonable imput or will it be what they feel like shipping out?

I would choose daemonhunters, then pray for lots of GK.

NO! that should definitely NOT be a rule!!!! Thats just gross! I don't want some slaanesh warrior charging me, Screaming a BloodLust filled roar, with his Jolly Roger Flopping around!!!! Thats just gross! I mean.....if it was a female warrior and she wasn't that bad looking, I think I could capture a few prisoners. My 'Interrogation' skill will be most useful then - Commissar NIkev

That would be fantastic.

First off, there are a couple of good carnifex loadouts. But even if you chose not to use them, the carnifex kit is the common base for tervigons, tyrannofexes and harpies.

And hormagaunts are amazing. No idea why you wouldnt want them.

I agree with that. Give them adrenal glands and they just rock hard. These are the problem Im having adjusting to fighting Nids. They are so damn fast

Hormagaunts are amazing, I would love to make a hormagaunt+genestealer list, but I would not want to use them in a nidzilla army so for me hormagaunts+ canifex=a bad combination of 2 excellent units.

Tryannofexes are not my playstyle. If I convert carnifexes into tervigons I'm going to need a metric butt ton of termagaunts, and will quickly run out of troops slots on my force org as 3 carnifexes converted to tervigons + 3 units of termagaunts=6 troops. That leaves no open force org for hormagaunts, which are a good unit and a good troops choice much like how tyranid warriors and/or genestealers are a good troops choice and a good unit. 3 canifexes converted into tervigons means all my troops slots are filled, so while hormagaunts are a good unit I would have no use for them alongside a large number of canifexes. If I used the carnifexes as actual carnifexes I would probably want to do so in a nidzilla where there are also 3 ore more tervigons, which once again means no open force org for hormagaunts.

The more I think about nids the more I think a tyranid list needs to be a cohesive groups of units that work together with a certain synergy. The stuff they are going to send me is going to be a truly random assortment of whatever, so after more thought I'm going to cross bugs off my list of possible armies. Tyranid armies are great, but they need to be planned out from the start because they have very competitive and limited elites slots, and their elites, troops, and hq choices need to work together in synergy. After thinking more about that and the randomness of what they are going to send I'm down to 2 choices.

Deamons, or Orks

I'm guessing that you guys can't send in a list to GW and get it? They just unload 2500pts of random battlebox forces on you, right?

Correct what we get is completely random, about 2,500 points, and tends to include battleforce boxes.

Eldar for example would probably be 3 of the battle boxes

So far starters it would be 3 war walkers, 3 wave serpents, 3 guardian squads, and 3 squads of dire avenger with 5 per squad.

Add to that Eldrad, Asurmen, a Night Spinner gravtank, 3 Dcannon support platforms, a Harlequin troupe, striking scorpions, shining spears, and swooping hawks and it's probably not the eldar the average player is looking for.

A free army is a free army, but what we get will be whatever they feel like offloading. It's either going to be really popular stuff that they have a huge stockpile of, or unpopular stuff they are overstocked with.

That's the main reason why I'm thinking deamons or orks. There are very few bad units in those armies, and very few units that depend on other units to do their job.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse.
