Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions

Ashburnham, Massachusetts

Interesting situation came up in a game last night that got me wondering:

If one unit is inside a building while another is outside, and only 3 inches away from each other, then can one unit assault the other? We tried to find the answer in the rulebook, but could not find anything that mentioned LOS.

In our specific case, there were windows and we had not been very careful in placing models so we just assumed it was a fluke & in 99 out of 100 cases, one model would have been able to see atleast one other model. It was a friendly game so we just worked it out without delaying the game with too much discussion, but I was wondering.

You can't assault into an embarked vehicle, which a building with models in it counts as... So no this assault is not possible regardless of LoS.

However can you assault a unit say 4" away behind a solid wall that you can't see? Well the rules permit you to assault anyone within 6" movement and give no restriction on LoS so yes you can.

If you declared it as a *building*, as opposed to a *ruin*, then you cannot assault out of the building as you must embark/disembark as if from a vehicle - which you can only do in the movement phase.

If it was a ruin then it is possible, as LOS is *NOT* required to assaults - just range. This is not fantasy

As already stated, Buildings are essentially transport vehicles and as such you cannot assault units inside.

Ruins on the other hand, you could assault just fine. LoS is not need to assault in 40k!
