Here's a Daemon Prince and a Predator for the Black Legion. Just thought I would post them up here, see what sort of response they got.

All manner of feedback is appreciated.

Looks great. I like the way you've done your black painting

Not bad! I like the predator, but the damon prince looks a little weak with pink skin, lol. I painted mine just like the one on the box because it looks very daemon-y. The red "skin" is tougher looking.

I actually feel the opposite about the skin, I love the look of it. How did you get the effect, I would like to steal it for my Slaanesh Daemons....

Tell us more about the black. I'm quite keen on the effect on the DP's power armour.

Bit more chipping on the predator, and maybe some gold on the pair. Apart from that, great While we're at it, how did you get your black so...black? cheers

Looks sharp, you have some gorgeous shading techniques. You are far and away a better painter than myself. Two things stick out to me though -

1) I'd like to see a little mor contrast between the horns and the skin of the head. It might be a camera effect, but they just look...off...to me. I have trouble determining where horns end and skin begins.

2) Slightly more chipping/weathering looks like it would be appropriate for the Pred. The turret looks about right, but the side that's presented with us looks somewhat pristine (if dirty).

Of course, you could not do a darn thing and they'd still look great!

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

The prince looks a little bit bland, but Im fairly sure its the mini. Ive never really cared much for that demon prince.

But the predator OTOH looks really nice and clean. Im really digging how the light is working on it. Nice work as always

Ok, I think I might have to do a full write up of my black sometime.

The trick I've found is that you really have to keep strong tabs on your highlights. I highlighted these guys with some pretty dark greys.

One other trick I know is that if your black starts looking too grey, then a black wash will often help darken it back down.

The model is far from bland,it actually is his painting. There's a lot of delicate highlights he either ignored or didn't emphasize enough. But that's just my opinion based on the quality of the Eavy' metal model on the box. I personally like the absense of gold. It gives them a less "rich" look.

Oh,sorry if that sounded mean.
I've tried using really dark greys too. I usually use: Chaos Black-> Codex grey and chaos black 2:1 ->codex grey-> astronomican grey and codex grey 1:1 ->astronomican grey

This wastes a lot a lot of paint, but I find it gives the rest of the black a nice look. I can imagine how you did this so well!

The models both could use a small degree of highlighting. Looks like there is also some mold lines on the dozer blade. Otherwise, not too bad

By the way, I've had a lot of people ask about how I do my gold colors after this post. So I did a write up of my methods in my blog.

So, here's a link to gold and brass metallic metals.

I like them. The pred is great. I am not really hip on the pink on the prince, but I think its a personal style issue not one of execution.
