Hello,

I searched for this topic and all I got was a lot of results for army tracks and post count, and formatting army lists.

Is there someway we can separate the army list forums by army? There are so many posts in there and it would be a big help if you could just view orks, IG, necrons, etc.

The problem with the search function is that it pulls every post from a relevant thread as a separate search result, and it brings up all the mentions of the keywords, not just the army lists that use that army, but the ones that, for example, say, " my ork list for playing against necrons."

I realize it would not be very easy to do this with existing posts, only for the future, but the transition would be relatively short I think since so many lists are posted.

Let me know what you think and if there is something I can do to help.

Thanks,
RD

It has been discussed in the background a few times, but would require an effort in line with the swap shop (3-4 dedicated mods) to constantly rename the incorrectly titled threads.

I am working on improving the search engines very very soon, so once that is done, it should make the army lists forums much more useable. I will be doing something to improve it for sure as I often run into the same issue when looking up army lists.

Sounds good to me. You could try to institute some kind of format for titles like you have in the swap shop. So mods could more easily spot the poorly named ones.

Like---[Codex][Points][Type]

Type would be something like-- tournament, friendly, themed, vs orks, or something along those lines. Then you could search for something like [Orks] and only get Ork armies instead of all the ork results.

Thanks for the great forums.

I'd suggest a series of drop-down when making new posts in the army lists section. Anyone
creating a new thread must select Army and Points Size from the drop down.

Don't know how difficult it would be, but it would streamline the naming conventions at least.

It could use those drop downs as tags to help the search function I guess. Instead of having to worry about the name of the thread so much.

What about setting up something like the image gallery but for army lists? Give users the ability to rate lists and comment and discuss them?

That is a nice idea, I'll give it some thought. It might be hard to do thanks to list decay, copyright and spam management, but I'll mull it over.
