The title speaks for itself really.

I move my Valk its full scout move after deployment.

Enemy go first (I fail to regain the initiative )

In the enemy's shooting phase, does the Valk gain its cover save for moving so quickly (the exact title of the rule escapes me)?

I don't play as much as I could. I blame society! And ninjas

Wehrkind: "Nah, see he yells the order, and when everyone looks at him and say "What?" he grabs the vox, hits a guy with it and screams "CAN YOU HEAR MY NOW?!" into the mouth piece. Works like a charm "

Funny thing to do on L4D [if you own the server] Bind the tank music to a key, then at quiet moments press it and start firing like mad at something behind your team whilst screaming 'tank' on voice comms.

Under the couch

This has been argued extensively for some time now. So the answer is a definite 'maybe'...

The cover save for skimmers is based on the speed from their last movement phase. So some say 'no' as it has not yet had a movement phase... and some say 'yes' as the scout move is performed in exactly the same fashion as a normal movement phase...

You'll need to discuss it with your opponent.

The answer is a definite "No"... if you play by the RaW.

If you want to house rule it, go for it however.

As said, this has been done to death already. The crux of it is the Scout Move is NOT a movement phase, which the SMF rule looks for.

Agreed completely with Gwar--It's a very clear-cut.

Unfortunately, the INAT FAQ includes a rules change that allows a scout move to provide a cover save, so it's not uncommon for people to use this interpretation. Just something of which to be aware.

I'd say talk it out with your opponent. Sure it's not a move in your MOVEMENT phase.... but logically, you moved 24", I think you deserve such a cover save. The only way you wouldn't from a realistic standpoint is if you assumed the scout move was kinda like infiltrating, in which it's not that you MOVED per se, it's that you started farther ahead than normal.

One of the problems of playing RAW is that sometimes the rules don't make a lot of sense from a logical standpoint... so if you prefer to get that cover save (and who wouldn't?) I'd talk it out with your opponent.

Started wargaming with heroscape. Who says kids can't be generals?

Neither flatout or turbo boosters make sense for scout moves. (turbo boosters let you move fast in scout, move slowly in your turn 1 and then still get a cover save in your opponent's turn 1).

Both need much better language to accommodate scout moves.

It's best not to think about realism too hard in an abstract game that deals with space aliens, laser cannons, and psychic powers.

By RAW no, by INAT FAQ yes.

Take your pick.

I say they got an advantage to be able to move. Don't let them get a save also.

Now to confuse you even more. By rules lawyering....The rule states that a scout move is after deployment. So to me this means that it happens, of course after everything is deployed. You then move before the first turn. Did you move? Yes. Did you move far enough to get a save? If yes then you get it.

my gaming group play yes to cover from scout move

if vehicle performs scout move assualts are resolved according to the speed of the scout move

and last but not least..

vehicle that have not scouted.. and not had a movement phase as of yet are auto hit during 1st turn assaults

not saying how we play is right but we are happy with it
