Decided to keep my army all in one thread. My first fully painted Space Wolves are my sniper scouts and now 3 bikers.

Swiftclaws!

WIP is my Wolf Lord. The arms are magnetized, trying to decide on a head at the moment.

These are my first Space Wolf miniatures painted to completion. I've thrown some paint on a few grey hunter squads, but they are now sitting in my 'to do' stack again since I'm not even close to satisfied with them. Here's my wolf scouts armed with sniper rifles, and camo cloaks for flavor. A couple of quick things - I need to drill out the barrels and paint the lenses on the guns. This has to wait as my drill bit is MIA, the lenses will get done soon and I'll post a close up when they do.

What do you guys think?

Pretty good! Though I would lighten up the colors. The grey you have on your scouts is more of a blue than a grey. Also, I find having all that camo (which is very well done, by the way) is made moot by the fact how the fatigues are very dark. While from an aesthetic point of view they do provide nice contrast and look nice, it just seems contradictory, even for a group of unruly mutts.

Either way, they look nice. Keep the fatigues if you'd like, but I would consider greying up the grey.

No pity!
No remorse!
No fear!

romeo.lima, thanks for the critique. I might have to redo the fatigues in similar camo pattern. I wanted to keep the scout armor bluish, but darker than the typical space wolf. I know it seems off, I wanted to incorporate some aspects that make them stealthier yet still tie into the rest of my army. The basic scheme is straight out of the codex, brown fatigues with blue armor.

They look pretty decent, but why would you give Wolf Scouts sniper rifles? Their whole deal is popping up behind enemies to mess up their day with plasma and melta guns. Having them sit around with sniper rifles just seems like a waste of such a cool ability.

Brother SRM, these were a friend's snipers that he was going to sit on a shelf rather than use for his army. And I don't blame him, BS 3 snipers in a Salamander list is lame. BS 4 snipers in a Space Wolves list are less so.

I agree that the outflank rule is awesome, which is why I have two 5 man squads with meltaguns. They typically don't get to do much after the initial tank popping.

I love the cloaks, did you sculpt them out of greenstuff?

They come in the scout sniper box.

Ah, I have some of the older wolf scout models that I'm about to paint. I liked the cloaks on these guys, maybe i'll get lucky and be able to recreate the look with greenstuff

The bases let them down a tad.
Firstly, the blue makes the ice look like it is on water so they could fall in.

Secondly, The blue is very similar to that on the figures. The effect of the contrast between blue and white on the base and figures is very distracting on the eye.
Whilst there will be good reasons for using the blue on the bases, imho it would be worth changing it.

The main reason I say this is because the bases are distracting from some lovely work on the figures.
I love the camo cloaks and on the guns too!
very nice work going on there

I'm considering making cloaks for the rest of my in progress scouts. These, however, are from the sniper box. It's unfortunate that they aren't a separate bit, imho.

I think I see what you mean by the colors being too close. My original intention was to raise up the kneeling scouts so they would be about the same eye level as the rest (so I would have zero issues with ham-sters at my local game store). While looking at my plaster pieces I thought they looked like decent ice flow chunks. So what you see is in fact water. The flash on the camera dulls the water effects somewhat I think. I might revisit the bases - pretty much a one off trial. The rest of my army is going snowy/rocky.

well if the intention was to put them on an ice flow it worked cos they look like they are on an ice flow!

I did wonder if there was any change of colour due to the camera, but forgot to put in that caveat

Dude! They are so cool. Definitely would like to take on those if I ever got the chance.

I appreciate the comments. I'm glad that the camo worked really well, I'll put a tutorial up if there's any interest (spoiler: its easy as sin). My next models will try to incorporate some of this feedback especially regarding color choices. I'm working on some Swiftclaws and a few HQs together (bikers FTW).

Update: Cracked open my new biker boxes and started throwing a few ideas together. Here's a quick little hint at what I'm up to.

Nice scouts, but why is the wolf lord standing on the bike and how does he steer?

He's jumping off of it. Can't see how he'd steer with Wolf Claws anyway. The torso is magnetized so I can give him various weapons that would not work on a typical bike.

Update on my biker wolves. Finished my first three. Here they are.
