I have a simple question: How would you all define "gunline" in terms of a themed army?

Lots of static, shooting elements - typically a few Barrage weapons. Very little to no assault elements. Mostly long-ranged weapons, with a sprinkling of close-ranged weapons.

Often has a high focus on Scoring Units.

As many long-range, high-strength, and template weapons as possible, often mounted on tanks. Focuses on standing still and firing rather than moving. Guard are the best example of this.

A. Line. Of. Guns.

Seriously, what the above guy said. If you're running a 'gunline' army, you want to mow down all i've got on my side of the table before i get close. If a gunline faces another gunline, assuming both are optimized lists, it comes down to the luck of the dice on deciding the winner most times.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.
