I see that PNG files with transparent backgrounds don't show up well on Dakka. Is there a fix for this?

Also is there any chance that logging in could keep you on the same page rather than going to the main menu when logging in.

I have a fix for the latter but it's a bit awkward.

1. Open a new tab in your browser (tab 2)
2. Log in in the new tab (tab 2)
4. Refresh the page you were on (tab 1)
3. Close the new tab (tab 2)
5. You are now logged in on your original page. (tab 1)

PNG with transparencies are simply not possible for now due to the underlying software and structural issues.

Logging in will bounce you back to where you came from if you are going to a page where login is required, or if there is a glitch in your login cookie, but other than that I have been lazy with the coding and unfortunately there is no secure way to implement it without some major architectural overhauls.

Do you know of any good PNG to JPG converters for Linux?

Why can't I find problems that are easy to fix?

JPG does not support transparency at all. I cant remember if gif will work or not either, it depends if you are talking about the gallery, attachments, remote linking or avatars really.

However, linux convertors would be gimp for the GUI, or the command line program 'convert' from the imagemagick suite (or whatever they have changed their name to now).

So long as it converts the transparency to a single colour (white) I'll be ok.

All the Privateer Press model preview shots are in PNG with transparency. I could convert and attach them to posts as JPG's from my notebook (Linux).

Ah ok. If you are happy on the command line then convert is by far the best option as it is nicely scriptable with directories of saved images.
