O.k., I'm lost. I started reading Horus Rising and I'm about a third into it and I need clarification on something before continuing. In the second chapter, when Loken killed the Invisibles at the Palace on Terra? the Emperor who sacrificied himself? Was that the Emperor of the Imperium? Or an emperor of another civilization? If it was the Emperor, I thought they said Horus killed him? After that chapter, Loken keeps swearing loyalty to Warmaster Horus the First Primarch and the Emperor, but the Emperor is now dead?

Can you guys clarify or am not supposed to know clearly yet? Please dont spoil, just clarify, because Im loving the book. I am where Loken just completed his ceremony with the other four captains in the pool of water, the Mourival. thx.

I havn't read horus rising yet but the emporer killed Horus during the battle of terra much later, so I guess somebody else was ment.

It was the emperor of a different civilization during the great crusade. Not THE EMPEROR lol. That book is awesome as are the ones that follow it.

That wasn't the real Emperor. In beginning, theres a little tongue in cheek story about how Horus killed "the Emperor". What that was is, The Crusade came across a solar system with a planet calling itself "Terra" complete with a Golden Throne and mini space Marines running around...and they refused compliance. Its actually kind of a premonition if you think about it.
