If a rune priest had Tempest's wrath up and a drop pod ended its turn inside the 24 inch "dangerous terrain" zone, would the drop pod have to roll on the mishap table?

No, because Dangerous Terrain doesn't cause a mishap. It is very clearly stated what does cause a mishap on page 95.

And no, it is far too situational. I prefer to take JotWW and LL. Master of the Runes is a pointless upgrade so you are only using one anyway.

Murderous Hurricane is also highly effective, foot units wont like the hits OR the move as dangerous and difficult, and it can slow assaults - exactly what you want to protect your long fangs from, normally.
