I am going to buy some more models for my army.
I don't have any personnal preferance but i want some thing to paint rather than game.
But any model that i might be able to repurpose for my Inquisitors retinue would also be considered.

If mods don't mind a multi-purpose thread then: Does anyone know of an cheap way to build tanks (£18 for a Rhino/£25 for a main tank is steep for me)


Main reason for the thread is that I am without a decent kit to paint/build that isn't just for gaming purposes and i feel a little 'out-of-touch'
Preferably plastic.

You could do an Adeptus Mechanicus Model scratch build. I don't know maybe a Sentinel and use it as an Inquisitor support vehicle. I saw a Predator made out of MDF the other day and its was quite good, the main thing is to get good schematics and then you can make it out of balsa, Pasticard or whatever is to hand. Search the term Scratch and you'll get lots of inspiration, some of the best things I have seen, i'm interested to see you progress. Good Luck

Gah its happened again. This a painting project, Remember!!!!.

Scratch building would be good but my main drawback to doing any of this is transport. To shops to buy materials. Oh and knowing who stocks what.

And i would document my progress in a blog or even take pics but i have a very shoddy camera.

I know you are a unsure of ordering online and I was the same as a student. I did get a Barclaycard with a limit of £300 when i was a student about 12 years ago, the Barclaycard is useful as it insures any online transaction or at least it did. It helped me as I was at UNI in Aberystwyth which is as secluded as it gets and again I sympathise as I had no transport i had to rely on my technicians in my department to help me out.
All i can suggest is get in with the Physics/Engineer set and you'll find lots of people with tools, expertise and materials going spare, as a Physics Graduate it was awesome.

Further to this, use the Swap Shop Forum, i have had 10 or So trades each was brilliant and turned up. Don't be worried as i have not heard of anyone ripping someone off, infact its very much the opposite!

anyways, if you want a painting challenge, Tyranids or Eldar can be done beautifully. The Avatar, if someone could actually make it look like pulsating lava or something.. win.

IMO you should get something that you will actually use with your current armies. Eldar, Inquisition or Marines. Or start a new army

Painting howling griffons always has an epic win or epic fail outcome.

You mean, noone's offered up a model that you actually want to paint? Just browse around till you see a model that you like painted in a way you like (or just seeing the model you like.. be imaginative and original..or somethin') and just try it out.

Maybe do something based on your favorite colour?

Blue? Dire avengers. Smurfs. Oceanic Eldar. Blue 'nids.

Red? Fire drags, BA (and successors), Saim-hann, cadian somethingth etc.

I'm thinking like the court of the young king but a asualt style unit form at least 5 chapters and each chapter's champion go into one unit. some kind of bonus to all assisting units within 12" like an extra attack or furious charge maybe...

No, sorry, I disagree. Only ONE champion is sent per attending chapter, and it is usually the chapter champion.

Have it so each chapter champion as a USR or something.. or different stats.. or artificer armour or something to represent the chapter.. maybe master crafted weapon, or a storm shield here, arty army there.

No ranged weapons though.

I was rushing while writing that post. I missed out a vital apostrophy that made it give you the opinion that i meant a chapter sent multiple champions. Editted now to be clearer.

And what use just put as an idea i had already suggested, but given also to the accompaning unit of the same chapter.

The avatar gets increased range and all units within 12" get some kind of boost.

The Feast of blades is a centennial competition of honour between twelve Space Marine Chapters. Each Chapter can choose to send a Champion to represent them to the feast. The 814th Feast happened in the year 949.M41.
Although twelve Space Marine Chapters attend their identities are not all known. However it is speculated that Chapters related to the Imperial Fists take their honour in hand and send a Champion. It is known that the Imperial Fists, Crimson Fists and Iron Knights Chapters of Space Marines all send a Champion to the centennial Feast of Blades.
Never before has one Chapter, let alone one champion, prevailed in two successive assemblages. Until Hervlad Strom won for the Iron Knights in 749.M41 and 849.M41. Strom suffered heavy wounds in the Vinvulus Crusade before the 813th Feast of Blades but still overcame the competition to win this prestigious event.

Well i thought about just giving your paint scheme a whirl as a thanks for being the first to reply.
And to keep some kind of variance i think different combat styles need to be implemented: So hammers, Sword and shield, Great weapons, dual weilding etc.
I would make a blog about my progress or at least put up some pics but i only have a shoddy camera. Tried it and the pics weren't great.

Crimson Fists attend the Feast of Blades anyway.. you can't really leave them out unless you're lazy and you say they could not attend 'cause the orks wtfpwned them.

Tbh, I think that Kantor would send a champion, as it would show that despite everything, they're still strong enough to maintain tradition.

Yes I know they send a champion And I thought that you played Crimson Fists so as they already are attending then i can't offer to include them as they already are uncluded. That was what i was getting at.
