Hi guys,

Just posted this on WAU and thought I would get your ideas also.

Just joined and have been exposed to the Warmachine/Hordes world for the first time. I am blown away by the models available. However, I have learnt from experience that the look of an army is not the only point to consider when selecting which faction to play.

I love the look and feel of Cryx and Menoth in general, but Cygnar also offers some cool sculpts.

Similarly, I like Legion of Everblight and Circle of Orboros for the same reason.

Knowing very little about the structure of the game and rules, I have turned to you for your opinions.

Please let me know which faction you collect and play and why.

Which faction is popular/unpopular at your local group/club would also be a bonus. Perhaps you can speculate on why this is also.

I currently play Menoth, starting a Cygnar force, and Legion of everblight.

I only got menoth so i had a second starter set to teach others how to play.

I love Hordes mechanics and the Legion Models just called to me and fortunately the army has been a blast to play.

I am picking up Cygnar specifically becasue I love the models for the Gun Mages and I NEED to paint them.

I would say see what people play in your area if you notice one army has over whelming support (like Cryx in my area) then pick something different that way you will bring something fresh to your gaming group.

However, make sure you like the army you pick don't just default to something because no one plays it, in the end it has to come down to whether the army fits your play style and your taste as far as appearance.

Every army for the most part is competitive if that matters and every army has some killer models. The real question is do you want to start with Monsters or Machines?

I have seen so many new Cryx players as of late I am voting for anything but so I say go Menoth or Cygnar or Legion or Circle.

Thanks for your input!

I have starter forces, at least, for all the factions I mentioned. I prefer painting but WM just seems so fun to play. I mean, having a game in under 45min enables you to have a number of games, or even a small campaign in the space of an afternoon/average club day!

Gonna paint them all up and see where it leads... though Cryx seems to call the loudest...

Most players at my local club play Khador; Menoth; Cygnar and I know of some who field Cryx as a second choice...

I have played a few games with each faction and Cryx seems to suit my style...

I've decided to go with a bunch of Mercs, many of which can be used with a few different factions. I also like the flexibility in paint schemes for mercs

Mistress - Mercs are fun, whether Grundback or Pirates, the minis look cool!

I am so happy that Cryx offer the Satyxis (sp) pirates and Ogres as choices, adding that extra flavour to my force as it expands... Eg. Skarre (E)
