Can't decide which army to do. Can someone give me pros and cons about each army? I play for fun but if theres a local tournament or something i'd like to enter. So which is more fun to play/paint +other things
P.S. GUYS I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THIS CONVERTING STUFF CAME UP BUT THATS ON THE BOTTOM OF MY LIST TO DECIDING WHICH ARMY I'D LIKE TO CHOOSE XD
thanks lol

The common wisdom is
Painting and converting: Orcs.
Fighting and winning: Space Wolves.

I think any army is good for painting and converting if one is creative. I have a pretty heavily converted Space Marine army that looks pretty good, and they're the "MotS bOrng ARy EVaR" according to some... As far as winning, I would say that they're both pretty good.

You can stray much farther from the norm with Orks and still remain visibly Orky than you can with Spess Mehreens, though.

Space Marine converting doesn't even compare to Orks. Sure, Space Marines can be converted into stunning pieces, but Orks are soooo much easier. If you scratch a Marine Vehicle, there is a very definitive look you have to get, or it just doesn't fit. With Orks, anything goes, a long as it looks suitably ramshackle. Orks players often convert looted Carnifexes for christs sake! The Orks have just got a very nice book from FW too, so If your Gaming Group will let you use it, it solves most if not all of their minor competetivity issues and gives you even more cool stuff.
The Orks are more of a Fun, light hearted force, with lots of opportunties for character and little things like cigars and other badass bits. Space Wolves are more OLOLO I can haz uber armour and wolves so I iz awesome?!?!

If you convert models as often as you say you do then I would say go with Orks.

Lolz.
Orks: lots of character, great models, several different playstyles. Average strength codex; no one will accuse you of beardiness playing orks unless you abuse nob bikers against noobs (since there are several ways for every army to deal with them). You can run horde, kan wall, gunline, speed freek, battlewagon spam, etc. and have a lot of fun doing it. Orks are a bit fragile (weak transports, no armor, poor leadership in small numbers), but potent if run well.
Space Wolves: have the strengths of traditional marines with some seriously strong bonuses, particularly in hand to hand (extra CCW attack, counter-charge for free...) and still quality shooting thanks to being marines and having the very nice Long Fangs. Able to put out some titan independent characters and rune priests are insanely good. SW codex in the upper tier, if you believe in tiers. Frankly, I dislike the entire range of SW models and think the fluff is meh, but YMMV.

The reason why i want wolves actually is because ...i haveno idea. Just that they are wolves XD. I enjoy the look and how they would play out. Some really nice IC
But orks are fun to paint (have some already) and look like they have potential
I just don't have a reason to tip the scales =p

Pretty much the reason I chose to play Wolves.
But the Wolves are my second army, don't even have 1000pts yet, with Orks being my #1 as they are so much fun.

Wolves have a pretty forgiving playstyle - If you forget to do something or do something stupid. you can usually pull it back. Orks are fairly forgiving, but forgetting to call a Waaagh and getting charged severely hurts them. Ork players have to be more careful, generally.

I started playing Wolves and got into Orks afterward. They've both got fairly similar playstyles, surprisingly. You can really just rampage down the middle of the field assaulting everything in sight with either army and have a lot of fun. You can start Orks for cheap with Black Reach (the 10 boyz from it usually go for 10 bucks on eBay or Warstore) while Wolves will be a little pricer per model, but a much smaller army.
Think of which army you'll enjoy building and painting more. If you dread painting grey, go for Orks. If the prospect of building and painting 30 Ork Boyz fills you with fear, Wolves may be more up your alley.

Some of the Wolf models kinda make me wonder what they were thinking, but in general, I'd say just think of what you'd rather be painting and go with that one. IE, do you want lost of green, ramshackle and dirty technology, etc?
Or do you want lots of bluish grey, with Imperial technology?

I've actually painted up almost a squad of grots, 20 boyz, a KFF, deff dread and killa kan and it was alright. I got a squad of wolves and painted two but i didn'tlike the colour so i primed over it again and am gonna follow this colour scheme i found on space wolves blogspot (good site).
painting the orks were fun but i don't know if i would want to be moving (both in and out of game) that many models all the time. The thing that keeps dragging me back to them is the look. I love the dirtiness of them
With the wolves, its something about them being wolves that catches me. That and the idea of having elite warriors on the field who have an environmental connection being a wolf. The model count would also be lower which is great.
I think i'll decide by getting the paints i need to paint the wolves and finishing the squad i have. Then i'll decide.

Me? I circumvented this whole thing and went for both.
Either way, both armies are real fun to play with and can be disgusting to fight, too, provided you've put some thought into the army.

I think i'll go with wolves for now then because of the smaller model count and i'd really like to see a finished wolves army.
My only concern is getting hold of bitz like the cyclone missile launcher, missile launcher for the long fangs and meltaguns. I know you can get them off bitz barn and what not but i really rather not order offline because i'd have to use my parents money and i'd really like to use my own. Is there an alternative to this?
(I'm only 16 and want to budget my money. With that, my next investment into space wolves won't be for a while so these are plans for the future)

Well, Space Wolves are vikings in space with some nasty builds and nice kits.
Orks are the psychic hippies of the universe and (can be) the comic relief army.
They're both fun to play.
As folks have said here, Orks are a conversion lover's dream. Just about anything can become an Ork model if you're willing to beat it up and slap some glyphs and pointy bitz on it.
Orks are also going to take the crown in terms of the sheer number of models. Space Wolves are a small, elite army, while Orks lend themselves to Da Green Tide (though there definitely are other builds).

I had the same choice and decided on doing both lol. I got some SW units from a friend who is leaving the hobby and I bought the AoBR set. I'm going to convert the marines from the boxset to more Space Wolves, and I'll eventually grab more Orks to bolster the units that came with the set

I wish i could choose both but i don't have the money. My next investment in a unit won't be for a while. I was also thinking of waiting for the new witch hunters codex to be released. Does anyone know when that'll be released?
