Hey all,

As my sig says, I decided my Blood Ravens looked awful and wanted to embark on a conversion.

And, although my project is well-under-way, it hasn't been until now that my sister has e-mailed me the pictures she took of my prototypes I have a lot more to show.

About a quarter of my Blood Raven miniatures dated from when I first "tried" Warhammer as a little kid... I painted with un-watered paint and glued all over the place, effectively destroying the models. My Blood Raven gallery is here:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-18499-4328_My%20Blood%20Ravens.html

Hence why I've picked the Dark Angels, as they've allowed me to convert damaged models into robed marines: Chuck on a few spare arms and bitz if the originals are too heavily damaged and you end up with some pretty nice-looking stuff, unfortunately I have no pictures of the original models in their damaged state, but here's a once-damaged marine restored to glory:

He was green stuff'd using techniques from this article:
http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?autocom=ineo&showarticle=147

My robe skills are better now, this guy literally was the first I tried

Here are some more marines:

And a nice "before and after" on my Dreadnought:

You may notice that I painted the 5th Company symbol wrong... I've corrected that since ;P

At any rate, thanks for looking! I think they're coming along great

Hrm looking at these I really need to get around to touching up their insignia... They're still just sketch lines

Very nice indeed, although I've been a great fan of Dark Angels without the red. It and the red on Ultramarines reminds me of 'The Red Age', before that, they didn't have red on them.

The hood+ beak helmet is a really good combination, if not inspiring.
Nice work on the highlights, too.

i noticed since the new sm sw and ba codex's that dark angels have hid in the corner and sobbed again, so its actually good to see some da armys again! a break form all the sw and sanguinary guard

Heh I will do as soon as she sends me the rest of the pictures she took... No camera at uni :(

I do like the DA, but really I think they should just be included in the next Codex: Space Marines, I mean White Scars and other chapters in there are simulated by HQ choices, so why not the DA? The only unique thing about them is their two specialist companies: Just make Belial and Sammael HQ choices for normal SMs.

But ultimately, as I said, making Dark Angels was the best way to cover up my modelling damage

These models remind me a lot of the Dark Angels I painted back in the day, even down to the good paint jobs and blank bases! There is little more confusing than well-painted models on blank black bases - Why don't you try giving them some sort of basing? Just gluing on some sand and drybrushing it happens to look pretty good for a minimum amount of effort. Anyway, creative way to overcome old damaged models - good work!

Aww, thanks

I want to base my armies (none are) but I always think of it as something to do when they're all finished... and none are

Very nice! Although, the mold lines are still present which is kind of a downer, but other than that they're pretty darn good in my book.

No pity!
No remorse!
No fear!
