Had a guy do this to me and wasn't sure if you have that option but if a Chaos Lord has a Daemon weapon does he always have to use it in close combat or can he elect not to?

Unless he has another Special Close Combat Weapon, he must ALWAYS use the Dæmon Weapon.

Agree with Gwar!. Relevant rule is P42, BRB. Furthermore, after checking the codex the Lord can never have another close combat special weapon so if he has a daemon weapon, he always has to use it.

I also noticed that they don't come with power weapons as standard. Chaos Lords suck. :(

I used a Khorne lord with the daemonic weapon in a unit of terminators and absolutely RUINED my friend's entire army with it. I will argue that he DOESNT suck. However, after a single turn of wiping everything but the special character out, my Khorne lord proceeded to seizure himself to death against the special character in 1-on-1 combat. It was quite humorous. Good thing I had 2 of those Khorne lords Ok, yea, they suck. But they're a lot of fun anyway

Put that Khorne lord on a juggernaught, the extra point of strength is a real bonus....
