Did that answer it for you?

A new day, a new time zone.

What does the rulebook say about vehicles being scoring units?

"-Nonsense, the Inquisitor and his retinue are our hounoured guests, of course we should invite them to celebrate Four-armed Emperor-day with us..."

Agreed. Page 90 of the BRB clears this up.

No vehicles can be scoring.

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Why? They gave him an adeqauate answer, assuming he has the rulebook. This forum is not a replacement for the rulebook. If he looks it up and is still confused about some part of it, then he can ask for clarification.

And speaking of clarification, kirby's statement is not necessarily true. That's like saying no Elites can be scoring, yet Space Marines have an Elite unit that can be a scoring unit. And Dark Angels have a vehicle that can be scoring................

no vehicles can be scoring *barring a special rule in their entry*. the dark angel ravenwing attack squadron, by virtue of being a 4th edition codex and some outdated 4th rules repeating, has scoring landspeeders. other than that, i can't think of any others.

But yeah, Don Mondo is correct. Rather than just give an answer, personally I subscribe to the "Teach a man to fish" method of rules answering.

Dedicated Transports can only score if a Troop choice unit is embarked in that transport. In this case you measure the distance to and from the objective from the vehicles hull.

Being a Mac user is like being a Navy SEAL: a small, elite group of people with access to the most sophisticated technology in the world, who everyone calls on to get the really tough jobs done quickly and efficiently.

If you teach a man to fish, don't be surprised when he sticks his pole in your fishing hole....

Dedicated or any transport follows the restriction mentioned by BoyMac

No, they don't. The dedicated transport still isn't scoring, the troop unit inside is and you're measuring the distance for that unit.

Right...I am trying to think of an example where this is not the exact same thing as treating it 'as if' it was scoring for the purposes of obejctives and I cannot come up with one.

Doesn't matter what you're treating it as.
It only matters what is, in truth, the fact of the way it works. The troops inside the vehicle score but NOT the vehicle, itself.

You just get the benefit of measuring from the transport.

Personally I like that way. Infact Ill usually ask where in the book the question I need answering is at, as Id rather know from then on WHERE it is in the book. Only when Im totally stumped on how a rule works do I ask how it works.

Teach a man to fish and he can eat all day. Teach a man to talk to Gwar! and you don't even need a rule book.

Build a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Empty dedicated transports are not scoring units, however if they contain a scoring unit, they are in fact scoring
