Greeting Skirmish Board Viewers!
I've recently (yesterday) taken an interest in Mordheim. I don't play WHFB but Mordheim seems like a lot of fun.
I haven't read through all the rules yet (hooray free rules!), but I have one big question that I can't find n answer to.
When creating your initial warband, do heroes get to make advancement rolls based on their starting experience?
Probably a silly question, but crucial nonetheless.

Also, I tried my hand at creating a couple of rosters, and was wondering what people though of them.
I checked out several articles on Mordheimer, but any other advice is absolutely welcome.

First I made a Dwarf Treasure Hunters list:
Heroes:
Noble
-Helmet
-2 Hammers

Engineer
-Crossbow
-Dagger

2 Troll Slayers
-Axes
-Daggers

Henchmen:
2 Thunderers
-Crossbows
-Daggers

3 Beardlings
-Hammers
-Daggers

The other list is Lizardmen, based on the unofficial Mordheimer rules:
Heroes:
Skink Priest
-Bone Helmet
-Dagger

Skink Great Crest
-Spear
-Buckler

Saurus Totem Warrior
-Bone Helmet
-Club
-Shield

Henchmen:
3 Skink Braves
-Javelins
-Daggers

2 Skink Braves
-Spears

2 Saurus Braves
-Bone Helmets
-Clubs
-Shields

Thanks for looking,
CC

Oh and no.... you dont get advancement rolls for starting experience. That experience is already accounted for by the fact that the character has that postion in the warband already! (Be it engineer, noble or troll slayer)

Thanks for the reply.
I've actually decided to stick with lizardmen because they are my favorite fantasy army.
I modified the list a little bit to get more stuff in.

Heroes:
Skink Priest (90gc)
-Sword
-Helmet
-Buckler
-Short Bow

Skink Great Crests x2 (90gc for both)
-Spears
-Bucklers

Saurus Totem Warrior (78gc)
-Helmet
-Shield
-Club

Henchmen
Skink Braves x4 (100gc)
-Short Bows

Skink Braves x2 (70gc)
-Spears
-Bucklers

Saurus Brave (58gc)
-Helmet
-Shield
-Club

11 models
Rating: 102

I maxed out the heroes for better exploration and went primarily with shooting skinks as it seems more their strength, but I still have some good CC. The Saurus have a 4+ save and helmets, and there are several models capable of parrying so they should stay alive.
Pretty much everything can run around in pairs or groups to prevent all alone tests and support each other.
I'm going to try this out in some one off games and see how it does. My friends are building Ogres, Sisters, and Undead.

Sounds good actually! Keep your heroes together to form a hardcore base... with a shooty warband, stick to buildings and look to pin enemies in open areas, if you can get a stunned result on one of their heroes, go take it outta action with a saurus!

The main warband you will have trouble with is Undead.
Aim only for their necromancer and vampire, ignore the zombies and dregs. Dire wolves may give you a little trouble in the beginning, but remember, they dont get experience, and you will soon find that you can deal with them like a small puppy.
