Command and Control, Battlefield Friction, morale, call it what you will, many games try to simulate the challenge of commanding troops. The D6G team discusses how this is done in many popular games in their first segment: Mulling Mechanics.
Later they take on the roles of Dungeon Lords. Sure, anyone can raid a dungeon, but can you build one and keep it safe from pesky heroes? Does the newest game from the creator of Galaxy Trucker and Space Alert continue the tradition of funny, fun, and challenging?
All that and our usual 'not too horrible' humor, with features such as:
- The Hollywood Minute
- Rapid Fire
- What's in the News
- Total Fan Girl
- & More

I agree with the D6G view of the command and control mechanism in Future War Commander. I find that it is too random and doesn't seem to reflect what you would expect in "real life". Oddly enough I find that the same mechanic works well in Warmaster and Warmaster Historical
Another enjoyable episode -- Dungeon Lords seems like it would be a fun game.

Great show so far...taking a break from painting those 15mm Soviets so I thought that I would comment.
In Mulling Mechanics I wonder why you didn't go into a little bit more historical background and comment a little on Kriegsspiel. I get that you were trying to compare and contrast Future War Commander and Epic (mainly) but to get to the heart of battlefield friction it is great to see how that is worked out in Kriegsspiel.
In addition, it would be great to hear you guys talk about the longevity of some games that you have raved about in the past. Where are Galaxy Trucker, Race For the Galaxy and Pandemic? Are they still in rotation?
Keep up the great work!

Great episode! As always I'm left with a huge desire to play a new game. I'm interested in hearing more of Raef's D&D segment. Seems like a pretty neat idea.
Tre Manor - I'm the guy who won Craig's contest. I just wanted to say that your miniatures look just as great in person! Beautiful sculpting!

You guys have this weird magic about you that force people to like stuff. I'll explain....
I've bought many of your suggestions in the past and like them all. Then I bought Dungeon Lords, and hated it! Like 6+ with a reroll taking the lowest hate. I've always wanted this theme in a board game, like the old dungeon keeper video games, but I didn't think this one delivered it in a fun way. Not enough player interaction etc. I shelved it and swore to never buy a game you hadn't reviewed ever again! But then you did, and loved it! The funny thing, while listening to your review I found myself having fun listening to you talking about your experiences. Maybe it doesn't sound so bad now...
That being said I'd still trade it for a copy of Catacombs in a heartbeat! Now that sounds like a fun game! I was surprised you didn't compare it to crokinole though.
Love the show, and Raef, Craig, Dungeon Lords for Catacombs... I'd pay shipping both ways, wink nudge! HaHa

Keep up the great work!
Achievements in Gaming is really designed to fill that role. We try to name EVERY game we've played since we last recorded, so if you notice we haven't mentioned a game in awhile in Achievements, we haven't played it in awhile.
Funny note about Galaxy Trucker: Our group is really enjoying Dungeon Lords and the humor reminded us fondly of Galaxy Trucker. So much so several folks have asked I bring it on the next gaming night.
So Galaxy Trucker will see some play again soon I think.
Race for the Galaxy and Pandemic also see a lot of play locally. I think I've mentioned Pandemic whenever I talk about one of my friends "Gaming Days". That game always shows up.
And Race is almost always hanging out as a quick filler game.

I really liked the Dungeon Lord review. It was fun just listening to, and that doesn't include all the playing stuff. So, will there be whole segments of gaming industry set to the construction and manufacture of Ghosteeples and Monsteeples? A Hirst Arts castable board/token set?
Hollywood - The Minute went an interesting direction. Now, I'm going to have to beg/borrow/steal a fourth ed book (maybe sell some blood if none of the previous options are available), to contribute to the effort. Whether I'm in or not, I'll be interested in hearing how it goes.
Great show.

Just finished the show last night. Congratulations on another great episode; I especially enjoyed the Fog Of War mechanics discussion.
One thing I wondered about, though. Firestorm Armada was discussed as having no FoW or C&C mechanics, but do you think the card system provides some of that? Granted, it is pretty abstract, but the cards do provide a layer of randomness to the game.

Heya all!
Wow, a person who hated Dungeon Lords. How is that possible
As for the DnD HWM bit. Yep I am already scripting the next segment. And to just let you know so far we have one vote for the Cleric, and NO char's yet. I just want to say that in case people are like, oh, he probably has 100 chars. I won't waste my time. Well go ahead and waste it!
Cya in a few weeks.

GW.. full color rulebook with new art? Have GW finally responded to the PP book quality?
Any chance of a segment on the new book (far) down the road?
oh, and excellent episode as always. I like the HD podcast role play. Could be interesting.
