So I am starting up a new summer project. My goal is to paint up an entire Imperial Fist's battle company, 5th company to be specific.

Hopefully I'll be updating this at least weekly.

I've started painting a couple of the marines but, I haven't finished any yet. The majority of the models are stripped marines from various old projects. All told it is 107 infantry, 6 rhino, 3 drop pods and 2 dreadnoughts all told 118 unpainted models.

Finished Models: 0
Models left: 118

Good luck, looking forward to seeing it all done

Just wondering did you do the striping?

Am trying to find an easy way to strip plastic models but my last couple of attempts have left the models a little damaged.

Yes, i love projects like his! I'll be watching this one.

@ Jake Bake A Cake: I strip my plstic models with acetone-free nail varnish remover. Works like a treat with no detrimental effects so far, works better on black primer than white though.

Thanks for the support guys.

Jake Bake A Cake I did do the stripping myself. I used a product called LA's Totally Awesome. It is a yellow cleaning product that used to be sold on TV but, now I can find it at most $.99 stores.

I'll fill a small jar with models and then pour this stuff in on top of them. Then I usually wait a day or so, although you can probably just wait like an hour, and pull them out one at a time and run a toothbrush over them. It takes off most of the paint the first time although about 10% of the models I put through that treatment again. The best part about it is LA Awesome is usable for about 3-4 attempts at stripping. As a forewarning though I do recommend wearing gloves while working with it as it can be absolute murder on your hands.

I am also building my IF army (2nd Company)! Still waiting for my battleforce to arrive... I know painting the yellow is almost as anoying as painting white, but when you have a sheme that works for you it's easy.
Nice foam tray filled with Assault Marines btw !
Good luck!

Ya it took me a long while to find a way of painting yellow that did not drive me insane. I probably painted up 2 dozen tactical marines trying to find a way of painting yellow that looked decent.

Funny enough that is not even all of the assault marines I own.

I'll be posting my step by step guide on how I did imperial fists next.

Subscribed, I love these projects, it helps to remind me to get a move on with my own minis. All best for this one.

Well I started painting my first las cannon guy and was taking pictures of each step.

Unfortunately after about 30 minutes of painting I started to apply the should rim. To my great annoyance I spilled some onto the shoulder itself. No matter what I did I couldn't get that should to brighten up.

So into the LA Awesome he goes!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Got some work done tonight. Started working on the third combat squad, the 2 were test models.

Primered

The first thing I do is hit the base with Calthan Brown and then paint the armor with watered down Sunburst.

Squad should be finished by mid afternoon tomorrow.

Cheers walledin, will have to get on it.

I'm down in Oz so I doubt I'll find the same product but I'll see if I can't find something similar.

Looking forward to seeing some completed models.

"Straight Fething Silver" Tanith first and only

I have a reputation, Modile, a reputation as a fair, honest man who treats his soldiers well and supports them in the face of darkness. Potentially, that reputation makes me soft. It seems I understand failure and forgive it. Some, like Kowle, believe me to be a weak commissar, not prepared to take the action my rank demands. Not prepared to enforce field discipline where I see it failing. I am an Imperial commissar. I will enflame the weak, support the wavering, guide the lost. I will be all things to all men who need me. But I will also punish without hesitation the weak, the incompetent, and the treasonous.
I am a Commissar. I am empowered to deliver justice wherever I see it lacking. I am empowered to punish cowardice. I am granted the gift of total authority to judge, in the name of the Emperor, on the field of combat.

Sorry about the late update. Things got crazy this weekend but, I did manage to get a lot done.

Here is my first fully painted combat squad, sans the base still not sure what I want to do with it.

Here is the other combat squad in that unit.

Doing another combat squad ATM. The yellow is finished and i'm working on the details. After that I'm going to paint up one more tactical so that I have all of my 2k troops painted. Then I'll move onto their rhinos.
