I'm working on a new Clan Skryre-themed Skaven army and I want to include some Hellpit Abominations, but I want them to be teched up. One of the thoughts I've had so far is to build a couple dognaughts like Col Hammer's (shown below, from this thread http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/30/217606.page#607793) and make them look more like rats than dogs (don't know how easy that would be, though...) The other problem I see with the dognaughts is trying to figure out how to make them look more steampunk to fit with the Skaven theme.

Anyone have thoughts on other ways to do a Clan Skryre HPA? Maybe a Defiler-like walker? Whatever input you can provide is appreciated.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

Well to make it more steam punk i'd say you'd need to do the following:

1. add alot of metal plates to reduce its symmetry.

2. Strive to stop it looking like a dreadnaught.

3. add exhaust pipes sproutin gout of its back

4. lots and lots of wires.

As far as that image you posted goes, I'd suggest switching the back and front legs, cutting down the front legs a bit more to make them look a bit smaller and thinner as rats have larger haunches. Add some pipes and boiler outlets etc to the back and a tail and you're done.

Glueing a rat ogre head to a SciFi model doesn't make it look medieval. I would stay away from 40k models, as noone mistakes them for Skaven constructs. Start with something medieval and look how to incorporate the rules for the model.
