I recently picked up some cheap plastic space marine terminators from the assault on black reach box, but I want to put lightning claws on them for a dark angels list I'm putting together after a four year hiatus from the game. I found two options for acquiring lightning claws: one set of 10 that are metal and one set of 10 that are plastic, but the plastic ones are about 10 bucks more. Do you think buying the metal arms and trying to put them on plastic terminator bodies would be a bad idea? I don't anticipate ever really swapping out the arms on them since, well, they're freaking lightning claws, who wouldn't want them in a deathwing terminator squad?! Especially in an army that uses ravenwing bikes with teleport homers to deep strike terminators right in front of the enemy on turn 1! Thanks for your replies.

I've heard that the old metal ones are too small for the current terminators, so you should probably get the plastic ones, and keep in mind that the plastic ones probably dont have sholder pads(which you need).

I'm currently doing a Fallen army & have glued old metal jump packs to my plastic marines with no problems.

(I used metal ones as I know how to strip old paint off these without damaging them)

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

I would pay the extra $10 for my own army. You might be satisfied with the metals for yours, but what if you're not? Use minis you don't like or eat it and buy the plastic set anyway... Likely, you're not into either of those options.

Also, unless it's explicitly stated that they come with them, plastic shoulder pads might be another cost.

Metals are too small for modern Terminators. Use the plastic ones - it's worth it.

Use the plastic ones because they are the right size and easier to attach. The metal ones you might have to pin them on to the model. That is 40 holes you will have to drill and 20 pins you have to cut. The plastic is so much easier and less time consuming even though a tad more expensive.
