I think if you're going to Golden Daemon you can probably do better freehand than transfers.

Change and change until Change is our master, for nothing neither God nor mortal can hold that which has no form. Change is the constant that cannot be changed.

No game of chess can be won without pawns, and this may prove to be a very long game.

Not to be harsh, but if you're considering transfers, you're not going to win. I've been to a couple with my best stuff and never even made the first cut. Don't let that stop you from entering, though.

Young bloods is an open category, as you can create anything you like - however it is not the "OPEN" category where anyone, including staff, can enter any GW model(s)

Transfers are not disqualified, it is just you are unlikely to make the cut if they see you have used transfers - it is a painting and modelling competition, after all!

Inside that little light in your refridgerator

You hand your models over, where they are taken and put in the case for your respective category.

Then the judges have their beastly ways with the minis. They are then put out into public display.

If a mini has a green sticker in front of it, or on the card, it made the first cut (I've only been to one, so the sticker thing may be different; my IG commander got stickered )

Then stage two happens, where all of the stickered ones are taken into consideration, and they declare the winners from that.

I entered a model into golden demon a few years back and it made the first cut, I think that narrows it down to 7-8 but it dint make the final cut, but what I noticed about all the models that made the final cut was that they all had larger more scenic bases and or on a pedestal with a little plak

I wouldn't be put off from not using transfers. If the rest of the paint jobs good and it's just that skill you're iffy on but can show your good at the rest your still in with a chance, especially if you use it tastefully, or even add a bit of paint to adapt it yourself.

scenic bases - offcially judging is not based on the base, hoever the base could affect the overall presentation of a models. The wooden plinths and stuff you use should be ignored by the judges (The rule about it being on a slotta base spearate from the plinth used to be there so the models could be taken off them during the judging process). The point of the plinths is purely to try to ake your models stand out in the crowd from the others, but a more cunning entry will find other ways of doing that.
Good look! hopfully see you there, I'm hoping to enter for the first time this year, although not sure what with as times really tight for me getting any painting of that standard done for the forseeable future!

I'm coming to get you
