Hey there Dakka folks! Do you like juicy delicious fluff? Are you a lazy who doesn't like having to drag 100 models somewhere EVERY time you play? Do you feel like letting a little evil out? Well that is how I feel right now! Anyway I really like to incorporate fluff in as much as possible with my armies, while still maintaining a force that can net me some solid wins. And I would like to have a lower model count army for those times I just don't feel like dragging a crap load of stuff with me to my buddies house for game nights. So without further ado, my four 1k point lists for each god. Opinions for improvements for any/all and which cult you think would serve my criteria best are greatly appreciated. Just remember: effective, mono marks, lower model count. KHORNE HQ- Kharn the Betrayer-165 Troop- Khorne Berserkers x7 w/ Skull Champ upgrade, Power Fist-182 Transport- Rhino-35 Troop- Khorne Berserkers x8 w/ Skull Champ upgrade, Power Fist-208 Transport- Rhino-35 Heavy- Predator w/ AC and LC sponsons-130 Heavy- Predator w/ AC and LC sponsons-130 Heavy- Predator w/ AC and HB sponsons-105 Total- 990 NURGLE HQ- Daemon Prince w/ MoN, Wings, Warptime- 175 Troop- Plague Marines x7 w/ Plague Champ upgrade, Power Fist, 2x Plasma Guns-231 Transport- Rhino-35 Troop- Plague Marines x7 w/ Plague Champ upgrade, Power Fist, 2x Melta Guns-221 Transport- Rhino-35 Heavy- Defiler w/ Reaper AC and 3x DCCW-150 Heavy- Defiler w/ Reaper AC and 3x DCCW-150 Total- 997 SLAANESH HQ- Daemon Prince w/ Wings, MoS, Lash-155 Troop- Noise Marines x6 w/ Noise Champ upgrade, Doom Siren, Power Fist-175 Transport- Rhino-35 Troop- Noise Marines x6 w/ Noise Champ upgrade, Doom Siren, Power Fist-175 Transport- Rhino-35 Troop- Noise Marines x6 w/ Sonic Blaster x6-150 Heavy- Predator w/ AC and LC sponsons-130 Heavy- Predator w/ AC and LC sponsons-130 Total- 985 TZEENCH HQ- Daemon Prince w/ Wings, MoT, Doombolt- 160 Troop- Thousand Sons x8 & Aspiring Sorcerer x1 w/ Doombolt-254 Transport- Rhino-35 Troop- Thousand Sons x8 & Aspiring Sorcerer x1 w/ Doombolt-254 Transport- Rhino-35 Heavy- Predator w/ AC and LC sponsons-130 Heavy- Predator w/ AC and LC sponsons-130 Total- 998 So there you have it. The troops per squad are done in the gods holy numbers, and it feels nice and culty. So opinions to improve, and which god is best for mono cult. Thank you in advance!

Codex: Chaos Space Marines 3rd Edition says the Sacred Numbers are 8 for Khorne and 6 for Slaanesh. You have some redesigning to do.
These lists are all very low model count so expect to suffer against Horde armies especially since you have Lascannons rather than Heavy Bolters.
Khorne list could do well but against anything that blows up your Rhinos early on and has decent anti-marine shooting potential your low model count will suffer.
Nurgle list is probably the strongest but could be in trouble against something with a lot of heavy artillery that just kind of ignores your feel no pain and toughness and exploits the Defiler's weak armour 12 (looking at you Imperial Guard).
Slaanesh List would remove the spawn and add Sonic Blasters which will tear apart Hordes.
Tzeentch list I really think you need to find a way to get Warptime on the Prince and Wind of Chaos on the Thousand Sons. It's difficult to do at 1,000 points though. You could downgrade the Lascannons to Heavy Bolters to help alleviate your Horde issues but then you'd really be suffering against AV13/14.

Change and change until Change is our master, for nothing neither God nor mortal can hold that which has no form. Change is the constant that cannot be changed.

Dangit, I always put the wrong holy numbers for those two! Well lists amended. And I agree with you on the 1k Sons list, but I just really am having trouble scraping the points. Also note that the new squad in the slaanesh list does not have a rhino because they will be hiding in terrain and not moving so they can fire 18 shots a turn with the blasters.

Thousand Sons are just grossly overcosted, hope for a new codex.
If you wanted to remain strictly based on fluff I don't see anything wrong with replacing one Thousand Sons squad with 9 Summoned Lesser Daemons using Horror and Flamer models and using the freed 180 points to add Warptime and Vindicator with Daemonic Possession.
Like
Daemon Prince 185
Mark of Tzeentch, Warptime, Wings
9 Thousand Sons 294
Aspiring Sorceror, Doombolt, Personal Icon
Rhino
9 Summoned Lesser Daemons 117
Predator 130
Predator 130
Vindicator 145
Possession
1001 pts.
Now where to shave one point...
Basically that list gives you anti-marine in the Sons, cheap objective capper and unit with invulnerable save to speedbump close combat units heading for the Sons, a big HEY SHOOT ME close combat monster with a 4+ invulnerable in the Prince, transport killing Predators and Horde smashing Vindicator with the last two able to kill AV14 in a pinch. That should cover all your bases.
I actually use a similar army, just larger in points value. The Lord of Change is such a great model that I just have to use it for my Winged Tzeentch Prince.

Funny enough your Khorne list appears to be the most mech out of all the lists. Overall your Slaanesh or Khorne list are equally good and I would choose between the two. There are a few considerations
Khorne
Kharn: If you love him, use him otherwise he can be dangerous (to both sides) in a low model count army. Khorne Winged DP or dual claw Chaos Lord is also a consideration and the points saved will allow you to upgrade the 7 man zerker to a unit of 8 and maybe add a havoc launcher on a rhino.
Slaanesh: The 6 Sonic blaster team is an Awesome combo but so is a 6 man bolter team with a blastmaster due to the synergy with the Lash DP (as the blastmaster is a template weapon). This would be a hard choice in my book.
I think it all comes down to which one would perform better in your meta and with your playstyle.

That is illegal as SLD count as troop choices but take up no FOC. So you only have one troop choice. And yes, I'm a Tzeentch fan so Rubric Terminators and such would be nice. Go back to having lieutenants and cultists. They added so much flavor to an army.

I really do like Kharn, he was such a thorn in my side when my buddy used to play khorne. I figure that since he is dangerous to the squad he will split off during movement and then charge. As far as the blastmaster goes it just seems too expensive for a weapon that scatters. And if I drop down to bolters thats only 1 shot at 24" as opposed to 3 per guy. I kinda figured the 6 man in the back will be more anti horde while the doom sirens on the other 2 squads would handle MEQ. All in all though guys good advice please keep it comin' its got my creative juices flowin again!

If I were to play cult nurgle again this is what I would field at 1,000pts. I know its paper thin armour but I think that its still fluffy enough.
hq:
sorcerer, mark of nurgle, wind of chaos, icon = 155
troop:
plague marines (7), plasma guns (2), icon, rhino = 231
plague marines (7), melta guns (2), icon, rhino = 221
lesser daemons (7) 91
lesser daemons (7) 91
heavy:
predator = 70
predator = 70
predator = 70

If you ran this list, but changed 3 naked Predators into 2 AC/ HB Predators, I would change my vote to Nurgle. Maybe Keep an extra Daemon Prince around (with Wings and Warptime) if you want to mix up some elements of the list without changing they overall theme.
Currently, I think your strongest list is Khorne, just because of the target saturation that it achieves. Your predators are dangerous, which means that your opponent has focus his shooting on either them or your rhinos, which means that one element of your army will always have something to hurt.

Well I got to proxy up the Khorne list last night and give it a go against XxRVNGRDxX who's was using a mech eldar list. 3 falcons, 2 waveserpents full of guardians with a single vyper. It was a hard fought capture and control. He had soooo much anti tank fire power it was crazy. But the blessing of the bloodgod, and kharn swinging true brought the victory home for me on T6 with both squads of zerkers still around albeit with casualties. All 3 of my preds gone, but both my rhinos and kharn still around. He was left with a lone falcon and no scoring units remaining.
I will still of course try out the other 3 lists though I must say Khorne has greatly impressed me. Right now my gut is telling me its gonna come down to khorne or nurgle. 1k sons are just too expensive for what you get and noise marines aren't very good when basic and cost a lot to add their juicy goodies. Thank you all for advice and comments. I will keep you updated on developments.

All in all, Kharn is just a beast. He can handle most combats by himself. I say stick with the Khorne and or nurgle armies. They will be the toughest and probably most versatile.
