Here is an odd one, I was thumbing through the Black Templar's book and read its version of Power of the Machine spirit, but army builder references the Codex: Space Marines as the version of the rule to use. Which is the right one for current use? Cause a Lascannon riddled predator with four lascannon shots per turn is rather twinky I'd think.

You use the rule in the codex for the army your playing.

Just a guess but i would assume that army builder is useing the SM codex because it is newer than the BT codex.
Because of this i would use the SM dex in this instance over the BT one because it will eventually be released with the same rules.

You are wrong.

You use the rule in the BT Codex.

You don't see Necrons using rules from the Tyranid Codex, so you don't use SM Rules in a BT Army. That simple.

@Dan- There are two problems with this.

1)Their rule book specifies a BS of 2.

2)Everyone of their vehicles can take PotMS(Every Vehicle).

Think about that for a second. I've played against a guy that tried to merge the two codices and it Turns the BT's into the fastest shootiest army in the game with the best avg BS to boot. It completely unbalances the Army. Think about land speeders moving 24" and still multi-meltaing you at BS 4

Also for everyone that argues for the BT's to use the newer rule that is intended for LR's only, you are in effect arguing for a merging of the various chapters.

Obviously i was wrong in my assumption.
Im new to the game so i naturally thought that since the new ed for C:BT isn't out yet it would be acceptable to use newer rules from the C:SM in an instance such as this, i am however wrong.
Also @FF i can see how it would become inbalanced and unfair.

In friendly games, with your opponent's permission, you may play with the updated wargear entries- the Dark Angel's FAQ specifically addresses this.

But, for the balance reasons listed above, in tournament or "normal" (for a given value of 'normal') setting, you must stick to the rules in your codex.

Ah. Thanks all I had not seen that FAQ before! Looks like I'll stick with "vanilla" marines for now.

Lol Black Templars have lots of other great advantages over vanilla marines

I'm seeing that. But as for the moment my "Decpticus Marines" Seem better suited to the vanilla marines and their MoTF scheme...though Black Templars have some very nice counterbalances.

Hells ya, they cost more points, so you don't have to buy as many models!

Actually, because they can get scouts and marines in the same squad, you can actually make a horde better than regular marines can, which can be more expensive.
