If you have a squadron of 2 tanks. You pop smoke on one of the tanks. During your opponent's shooting phase is it

1. Both tanks gets a cover save because half or more of the squadron is obscured.

2. Only hits allocated to the tank that popped smoke gets a cover save.

3. Depending on the shooter's LOS. If all they see is the tank that popped smoke than the entire squad get a cover same, if all they can see the other tank than neither tank gets a cover save.

Stockholm

After brief consultation with a BRB, i cant find any reason it wouldn't work.

1.Trigger smoke, vehicle is obscured.
2.Firer shoots at unit. Checks los to both tanks individually.
3.One is obscured, thus 50% of the unit is "obscured"

4.You get to take coversaves with both vehicles since the unit as a whole shares a coversave. (or not)

Edit: Remember you trigger smoke at the end of your move.

The answer is 1.

Since 50% of the unit can claim a cover save, the WHOLE UNIT benefits, even the one that didn't use smoke.

I seem to recall under Squadron rules that after the glance/pens are allocated, obscurred/cover saves are determined for each vehicle independantly.

I'll check the book when I can and edit accordingly.

So wait. Could you take a pair of tanks, say Hell Hounds, and shoot with one while the other pops smoke, and do the opposite next turn?

That seems... ridiculous.

Started wargaming with heroscape. Who says kids can't be generals?

It also is what the rules say.

No, that is incorrect. Squadrons act as Units, and a UNit recieves a cover save (or not) as a whole - NOT based on individual models.
